Plane

A/Z Theme - Sights and Sites of Arizona

P - Plane

The City of Prescott (which has about 40,000 residents) has an airport.  It is a small one.

Died so young so many years ago.

Even does have a commercial airline that lands there at the airport (I think there's only a few flights daily that go out).

Of course what every airport should have, the tower.

The waiting area (it was Christmastime when we were there visiting).

Plane that recently took off.

And letting you in on a little secret.  This restaurant has one of the best breakfasts (they also serve lunch and dinner) in town.  Delicious food at reasonable prices.  So if you are ever in Prescott and you are hungry, check it out; you won't be disappointed.

Do you like to fly?

My personally, NO.  I think I would be happy if I never got on another plane in my lifetime.

Funnily enough, I am fascinated by plane crashes, yet I have no major flying phobia. (I hate take offs and landings, but the rest of the flight is ho hum.)

I'm with you Betty! I am a very 'fearful' flyer. I always take Ativan when I have to fly. And now without Richard to help me be calm and to hold my hand I hope I never get on another airplane!!

I am not fond of big airliners - they cause an inbalance in my inner ear and I feel nauseous the entire time. Well at least they used to - I went on a newer one the other day and it was much better. I think it's the vibrations.

I'm not an altogether comfortable flyer. I got used to it when I had to do the transatlantic hop from UK to East Coast US for work, but it's not something I like to do. In my logical brain I know statistically that flying in safer than driving, but my illogical side reminds me that this big metal thing is defying gravity and humans don't do that naturally! ;)

I don't mind flying. I mean I'm not afraid to fly. What I don't like is the security stuff, the way they cram too many seats in the plane, the diminishing services and the high prices. Other than that :)

I don't particularly enjoy flying but it's the only way to get to the places I really want to go. Happy blitz day.

I love to fly. We used to have a chicken wing restaurant in the local airport and they were the best!

One good thing about flying is that you can go a long distance in a much shorter time than any other way of travel. The few times I've flown has been mostly to visit with family so I've appreciated the short time it took to get there.

That waiting area photo is funny! I don't like long flights, but I also can barely sit through a movie, so it's the sitting in a confined space that bothers me most.

Wow. That airport is tiny next to Hartfield International, where I live in Atlanta, Georgia. Hartfield is the busiest airport in the world.

A small airport is probably easier to get around. I'd rather not fly, but if I have to, meh, oh well.

My city has a small municipal airport where people with private planes and small jets or even helicopters fly in and out. It used to have a really nice restaurant. It was fun eating there and watching planes land, but alas the restaurant just didn't fly, har har. Our commercial airports are in Norfolk and in Newport News, both about the same distance from my house.

I have a former friend from elementary school who lives in Prescott. It has been ages since I have been there. I LOVED the airport... nice and quiet, not full of people. Frankly, these days I prefer to drive than to fly. However, I WOULD like to try that restaurant.

We have an executive jetport. LOL No big planes for sure.

Interesting. I come from a mall town that has a tiny airport, too, but an excellent restaurant. I wonder if that is a "thing" as they say.

I didn't used to mind flying until the airlines started adding more seats and squeezing my personal space. My poor husband can't even sit without his knees pressed against the seat in front of him, anymore. The Prescott airport looks delightful, though.

My dad was a pilot, so I did a lot of flying while I was growing up. He also made sure I knew all the physics behind flight, which was cool. I've often wondered if it would help people who are nervous flyers if they understood what the bumps and jostles in the air are and how lift works.

I used to love to fly but the security hussle is so difficult. It you are a tad too slow, you get the eye rolls, the sarcasm, etc. And, I am slower.

Otherwise, I still feel a thrill. Some from growing up in an air force town. The other part was I never thought I would ever ride in a plane.

joeh said...

Looks like a very nice little airport. Pilots always know where the good restaurant airports are.

Arlee Bird said...

That's my kind of airport. I'm no fan of flying and haven't done so in a while choosing to drive instead. Hey, it takes us 3 days to get to New Jersey, but it's more fun to drive.

I go through AZ frequently on my way to Houston and back, but it's been many many years since I've been to Prescott. It's a nice place.

Oh, and Happy Blitz Day! How great to get blitzed during A to Z!

My mother counselled me never to say, "hate" ... but I seriously dislike (*wink*) flying.
Unfortunately, there's no shortage of disasters in the world today, but for some reason, I'm obsessed with plane crashes. If it wasn't for seeing my son and family, I'd be happy never to board another plane in my life.

PS - I wonder if Ernest A. Love wasn't kin to he who(?) Love Field in Dallas is named for.

Always enjoyed flying but don't anticipating doing any more. We live quite close to a small airport where they do have commercial airlines but cannot fly any big jets.

What a sweet little airport! When I was young my mum and dad's best man lost his wife and elder daughter in a plane crash in Switzerland. It was very sad, and it did put me off flying - but I do, occasionally. I have an assistance dog and she sits on my lap, and keeps me occupied! ~Liz http://www.lizbrownleepoet.com

I do love flying, but hate the hassles that come with airports. Years ago, I traveled for business on the company jet. Now that was cool. No lines, no security checks, just arrive, hand over the luggage and enjoy the sights.

I'm not fond of flying because of my ear issues. Due to changes in pressure I can become extremely sick (nauseated and dizzy). After a terrible experience I had at a business meeting in St. Louis, I didn't fly again for over twenty years. I missed the whole seminar I was supposed to be there for due to sickness. I was never so glad to get home in my life.

But I'll do what I have to do if it comes down to it. My family lives 1500 miles away so really the quickest way to get there is to fly.

The last couple of times I flew I was able to buy a large OJ after I got past TSA and I found if I nursed that all the way to Houston, I didn't get very dizzy by constantly swallowing.

That's a nice little airport. There's a municipal airport in my town, it only has small planes and helicopters, but no commercial flights. I have flown a few times and it wasn't too bad for me. The landing is the worst part.

Linda said...

Seems the older I get the less attractive flying is, guessing my flying days are over, no more feeling like a sardine and the waiting lines and crowds. The really tiny airports are fun to visit, especially when they have their fly-ins, often with a few vintage planes.

yeah, I'm not one for flying, either. I'll do it if I gotta...but that doesn't mean I'll like it.

I keep saying I'm going to one of the nearby airports (one just a few miles away, and a bigger one in Huntsville, about an hour away) and get pics of planes taking off and landing. I haven't done it yet. One day, though.
