status quo

We are still waiting for a baby.

We are still waiting for a house.

Status quo.

We made another offer on a house. Nice design.  Nice location.  And then the inspection came along.......

New roof needed.

New garage door needed.

Old appliances.

Pool questionable with  what work needed to be done.

Add up needed repairs and possible repairs, it no longer seemed feasible.....

so we said "no thank you ma'am" and "please give us back our earnest money as soon as you can."

Here in Arizona you have 10 days after offer is signed and approved to cancel such offer for no reason, but usually the reason is something goes wrong with the inspection.  Arizona law is more in favor of the buyer than the seller and we are thankful since we currently are the buyer.

So I thought I would tell you a few stories about our realtor.

I love her so. I did say she drove us crazy and she does at times, but she is the most dedicated, most sincere, most "I'm on your side realtor" than I had ever known (not that I know many).

She is incredibly busy. She is incredibly skinny. I don't think she takes time to breathe or eat.

Early on when we were looking at houses with her, she told us of a mother and daughter that were visiting from Wisconsin, looking for second houses. Both bought houses after spending the whole weekend looking at one house after another, rejecting the majority of them. For her weekend's work, she made $34,000.

A week ago she mentioned she listed a house to sell for 3.1 million dollars (I can't imagine). Nosy as I am, I asked her what her commission would be when she sold it. She said "$90,000".  I have no words......

We are NO WHERE near any of the house prices mentioned above. But she fights for us, advises us, has shown us dozens of houses and keeps meeting us when we ask her to.

She is the best of the best.

And if you are ever looking for a house to buy in the Phoenix area or sell in the Phoenix area, I would recommend her in a heartbeat.

It truly was a match made in heaven when we found her; she has a faith, we have a faith; we have a faith God will lead us to that right house.......

As we speak............

I might be a grandmother......

so very soon............

certain signs are pointing in that direction

thank you Lord

Psalm 139:13-14:  For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful, I know that full well. NIV

I think the baby will come first, but that perfect house will not be far behind.

Here's hoping you get good news soon.

re: earnest money
We had a buyer for our house, but she needed the property rezoned to build a nursing home. City Council turned her down. By rights we were entitled to the earnest money but we gave it back to her.

She did the best she could. We couldn't see keeping her money since it wasn't her fault the city turned her down.

Meanwhile, we still have a house to sell. I'll be praying for both of us.

Oh I am so excited for you to become a grandma! The house can wait! LOL! But it does sound like you have a good realtor who has your best interests at heart. I am glad Arizona favors the buyer!

It'll all happen at the same time ... first the baby, and then the house. I hope you don't have to wait too long to see your grandchild.

Betty,

Eagerly awaiting news of your first grandchild. You quoted some of my favourite lines from the Bible. I hope your wonderful realtor finds you the perfect house very soon!

It does definitely sound like that grand baby will be here before your new home. Glad you have a good realtor and hopefully she'll soon find a good home for you !

Realty can be profitable, but I know they get clients who waste their time, never actually buying or selling houses. Plus, never having a weekend off is tough.

Such an exciting time for you!
My mother sold real estate years ago. I told her, that after she and dad get moved up here, she and I should sell real estate because there is good money in it. It's a lot of work, some people make it look so easy.
Waiting for the exciting news!!
hugs,
Marie

I think the baby will come first too, but I do hope the perfect house won't be far behind. House hunting and moving are among my least favourite things to do. Wishing you all the best Bett.

34,000 in a weekend would sure be nice. Sell the right house and you are set. But it also takes a lot of work to get to that point. Baby sure will come first, but the house shall follow.

How exciting! I hope everything goes well and mom and baby are healthy!

It will all happen in God's time. I agree, that the baby will come first and everything else will fall into place. Enjoy these moments.

Wooooo-hoo, Betty! I wonder if your grandson's already here, as I'm typing this? Won't you just melt when they first put him in your arms?!

That new roof and new garage business would be a deal-breaker for me, too. Son and his wife (Alabama) waited almost 60 days before putting their home on the market, and had a new roof put on, new fencing, interior paint and carpeting throughout, etc., etc.
That said, it STILL hasn't sold ... theirs was an expensive gamble, for sure, and they're trying to sell it themselves. Thank God, it was paid for a few years ago so they don't have two mortgages.

Waiting can be hard. I'm not a patient person. And when you're waiting for a baby and a house, it becomes excruciating! I think the baby will come first. Yay!

Oh my, that's way to many repairs to do. So sorry about that! Glad your realtor is working hard for you. Okay....now on to the baby....sounds like things are in motion and I pray it all goes smoothly in the delivery room. Praying....xoxo

You may be naming the house for the baby, or the baby for the house, though I imagine if they arrived simultaneously, you'd be there for the baby.

This baby will come during the month of love..love is always what is needed and this baby will be well loved when he/she does come. As for your home, this real estate agent is great because she cares no matter what her commission is. You will find the home you want and it will be up to standards

Hoping for the healthy baby and a perfect house. Glad you have the laws protecting buyers in your state.

It's always exciting to think of buying a new house, although I've been in this house over 22 years, so I probably don't remember all the headaches involved! Hope your realtor finds the perfect house for you really soon!
Looking forward to hearing about your grandchild's arrival!

I am so excited about you becoming a grandmother very soon! I can't wait to hear all about it.

I can relate to the real estate agent. The one we're working with is wonderful, too. He helped us find our home we're living in and he's now helping us sell it and find another. He is the kindest, nicest man you can deal with and we are so lucky to have found him. I'd recommend him, too, for anyone looking to move here and search for a house!

Betty, it's like that Tom Petty song, The Waiting Is The Hardest Part. Advanced Congrats! on the new addition to the family and the house and everything.

A good realtor does more than just open the lockbox. We had a good one too when we sold our parents' house. He did the tough love thing on us and he got it done! So hang on tight to that realtor -- she will find you the right house at the right price.

Excited about the grand baby for you. Mine are now 1 month and 3 months - 2 honeypots!

Sales can be feast or famine, glad your realtor is so helpful. The waiting ... but all good things to look forward to ...especially the miracle in the works.

I'm new here but had to comment. So many exciting things going on and wanted to wish you best of luck!

Finding a house is not easy! I'm sure it's easier because you have a great realtor, but I would not want to be house hunting!

Grandbaby! awwww Something about those little grandchildren!

Can't wait to hear about the grandbaby! :)

Sorry about the house, but glad your realtor is so awesome. So wonderful to have someone in your corner during a process like that. Good luck- the right house will come along.

Having a good realtor is so important when you're looking for a house! We had a good one when we moved to SC. She wasn't great when we sold the house (we ended up switching realtors when we sold because she wasn't getting the job done, and then it sold in 2 months!), but she was great when we were buying! :)
I'm so jealous...I don't think I'll ever be a grandmother!

It is always a good visit. And you are right about Realtors. I have dealt with many, and finding one who really has your interests at heart are rare. Lots of stories related to this, one day I might do a blog of some of the things. smile. I liked the Realtor's honesty about commissions. Love from North Carolina

I'm glad you have a good realtor :) It amazes me how much commission they get, but I could never handle a job like that since I'm not so great with communicating with people.

It's so disappointing when the inspection turns out like that. We passed on a house back when we were looking that had some major issues like that. It was really disappointing at the time, but we're so happy we ended up where we are.

Isn't it awesome when you love your Realtor? Ours was a good friend, hubby's best friend's aunt, and she was awesome.

Hope you get your grand baby and your house soon! :-)

Best of luck on the baby's arrival. And I hope that the house-hunting leads you to the perfect home soon! As for status quo, I don't know about you, but sometimes in the crazy ups-and-downs of life, a little status quo feels pretty good sometimes!!

GOD BLESS!
