a word and an update

I sure hope everyone had wonderful holidays. They are behind us now and we start taking them down (provided one put up decorations in the first place) and we start moving on to the new year.  We make resolutions or goals or just think about the past year and see how we can improve on it in the new year.  I know its the same amount of minutes and hours and days in a year than it was when I was younger, but they sure seem to go faster these days as I get a bit older.  Just have two short years in my 5th decade of life before I journey on to the 6th (God willing).

So many come up with a word for the year that may define them and their year.  I've have some in years past, wasn't sure if I would have one this year but a few weeks back reading something in the Bible drew my attention to a word and then it seemed just right to try to make it my word for 2016.

The word "SATISFIED".  I read in the Bible when Jesus fed on two different occasions a big group of people (one time 5000 people, one time 4000 people; the Bible lists them as men, so more than likely there were also women and children there that might have made more than 5000 or 4000 people that were fed).  The Bible said after they were fed they were satisfied.  It mentioned it after both stories.

Satisfied.  Made me think.  Am I satisfied in God? In who he is, more importantly in that other than what he provides and does for me.  So I'm going to be focusing on that. Satisfied in God, his greatness, might, power, and so much more over anything else going on in my life.  Like the pastor said at church this morning, God was still on the throne in 2015, like previous years, like future years, and he still does know best.  So satisfied is my word; we will see how the year plays out.

Later this week I'm going to be doing 2 book reviews of books I read over the Christmas break from fellow bloggers.  They were both enjoyable reads.

Sign ups for A/Z Challenge begin January 25th.  I have my theme and most of the letters already lined up already.  Should be a fun challenge.

And finally I'm going to give you a bit of an update of what we've been working on for the past few months. It isn't all together yet, but one portion did finish up and we are diligently working on the next part.

We are moving.......

Yet once again........

As soon as we find a house we like.......

To..........

Phoenix.........

I know so many of you are saying "do you know how hot it is in Phoenix?" And yes I do know how hot it is in Phoenix in fact I visited there several times in their hot times.  But if I had to choose between hot and cold, I'm going with hot all the time and remember I lived in Montana for 8 years when I was cold from October to June (I kid you not) so warm for 3-4 months in Phoenix is a piece of cake :)

Obviously we are moving to be closer to a certain grandchild due in about 6 weeks but also to get to a bigger city.

Now just got to find that right house. Its a blooming housing market for the price range we are looking at and the features we want. We can only get down there on the weekends to look at houses. So many sell within hours of them being listed.  So its just a matter of being at the right place at the right time.

That hasn't happened yet but we'll wait for God's timing. In the meantime, I've seen so many houses I get confused and as I'm looking at some on line I'm thinking "that is a cute house" only to realize I've actually been in that house looking at it at one point or another before.  Its been an interesting adventure and I really think there could be a realty TV show out there with realtors showing houses. Love our realtor and we have had so much fun her and me coming up with stories about why the house is on sale, the people who live there, etc. I got to say though a picture does tell a thousand words. I've come to learn that a house can look so much better in pictures than in actuality.

So 2016; bring it on! I think I'm ready for what you have in store because I know who already knows what is in store and He's never let me down; never has, never will.

Happy New Year!

Like you, if I had to choose between hot and cold I'm totally going with hot! I think you will do very well in Malaysia - it's summer here all year round!

Looks like 2016 is going to be an exciting year for you, Betty!

Looking forward to your future posts.

That's exciting and I'm right there with you in choosing a warm place to live. I think Phoenix is beautiful. My friend bought a house there last year. They got a good price on a fixer upper.

Happy NewYear!

2016 will be a year of new beginnings for you. I am looking forward to you A-Z challenge. I enjoyed reading it last year.

"Satisfied" a great word for the year. Great questions to think about over the next 362 days! When are we satisfied? What is the act of being satisfied? Hmmm..lots to ponder.

God Bless,
Linda

It sounds like an exciting year for you! I love the word satisfied. I've never thought to use it but it fits so perfectly for some of my years. I totally understand about the cold. I am chilled for most of the months where I live! I'd prefer for it to be the other way around...more warmth :) I'm looking forward to hearing about the arrival of your grandchild. How wonderful! This will be a brand new (and heart hugging) chapter in your life.

That is a great word you have chosen. Lots to think about too. What a busy year you have ahead of you. Moving and a new grandchild. Hope you can find your house soon.

I don't care what anyone says, I like moving. :)

And I'm with you about warm. Given a choice, I will always choose a warm climate.

Best wishes to you and that new grandbaby!

Yay, We have family in the Phoenix area. As a matter of fact we were very close to moving there, we tossed the coin between AZ & Fl when we left CO, but I opted for FL because I wanted water. CA would have been #1 had we felt we could afford living there, but since we lived there previously it wasnt much of an adventure. 'Wishing' you the best of luck!

I like moving people!!! WE like Phoenix, only there twice, but it was cooler than Gila Bend!!! LOL
My Sherry will agree with you on the heat vs cold weather. Also I AGREE about the confusions when looking for a place, you do see so many it is confusing.
We are sorta doing the same thing here in Florida because we cannot drive forever.
The best to you and our prayers to settle the search, that you will see 'THE HOME' and it will be settled.
Love from Florida!

Nope, cold for me. Not very cold, but I like a winter and I don't do too well in heat. Live in NC for 12 years and that was more than hot enough for me.

You must be nuts moving again. I hate moving. I have done it so often including moving countries. However, if you must, I wish you all the best and the house you want.

I hope the next move goes smoothly and that the grandchild on the way is a delight!

:) Happy New Years!!!

I think for 2015... my word would either be "Meh" or "Whew..."

:)

The housing market varies so by region, and whether you're on the buying or selling side, I suppose. Houses are not selling so fast here in NE Ohio. Best wishes to you in your search.

Oh yeah, a house can look way better in pics than in person. I'll take hot over cold any day too, no need for stupid snow haha Hopefully you find one. I forgot about the a to z sign up, I've been done that since summer haha

Sounds like exciting times ahead for you this year. Everything hasn't been perfect in my life over the past year, but I have felt more than satisfied with what God had provided. I hope 2016 is as wonderful. And I'm with you, give me heat instead of cold.

I've never thought of a word to describe a past year. I'm not sure what my word for 2015 would be...Moving to Phoenix? Wow! I wish you all the luck with finding a house and having an easy trip.

It sounds like you have another exciting year ahead of you. A new grandchild is exciting! We've lived in our house since we built it 35 years ago. Moving just is not in my vocabulary. Satisfied is a wonderful word.

SATISFIED - what a lovely word!

My word is grateful, and it occurs to me that being grateful has a lot to do with being satisfied!! I cannot believe you are moving again! But, I just know that God has the perfect place all lined up for you - and in His perfect timing, it will be revealed. (By the way, we really enjoy watching "House Hunters" - it's a show about realtors showing people houses. It's quite entertaining!!)

Can't believe that it's only 6 weeks until grandbaby shows up! Such excitement - can't wait!!

GOD BLESS!

Satisfied... I like that word...
I know God already has your house picked out for you...
what I didn't know til a bit ago is that you have been moved for a year, I have your Christmas card returned back to me waiting for your new address when you get settled again... lol...
Happy New Year!! :)

I love your word. And I loved why you chose it!! Moving again?? I don't blame you one bit. You need to be closer to that grandchild. And where it is warmer. I prefer warmer too. I hate winter because I don't like the cold. Or the ice. Or the snow. Or anything about it!! I cannot believe it is time to think about A-Z. Like you I have my theme and all of my letters covered. Now just the research and the writings!!

That seems to be a great word to use. I feel my last year was a resounding meh. Nothing bad happened which is good. I am not one for heat at all so I could never live in Phoenix but it sounds like you can and you will be near loved ones. Happy New Year!

I lived in Tucson for many years, and Phx was always a degree or two hotter. Yes, it's hot. I found it extremely hot, and I like hot weather. In fact, it was exceedingly hot and brutal. But as they say, "You don't have to shovel heat." And now, many homes have refrigerated air instead of just the swamp coolers that even nice homes had in the past. Way back when, swamp coolers were IT for most homes. I hope you will enjoy Phx. It's certainly doable, especially if you adopt the local habits of carrying a potholder around for your car door/steering wheel, and a spray bottle to make a mist when needed.

Happy New Year, Betty! I visited Phoenix last March and I loved it there. The temp was perfect then! It's a beautiful place, and actually reminds me a bit of where I live (south central BC) because we have cactii (only the small variety, though) and tumbleweeds here, too, and it gets super hot in the summer. We do have cold winters, though. At this moment, snow is coming down, down, down..
Love your word for the year.. SATISFIED is such a 'comfort' word.

A-to-Z is almost ready??? Argh! I have an idea, but not the first letter. Good luck with the move. Wherever you end up in Phoenix, I hope they have quails.

Love your word! Satisfied. So many of us are always looking to the future and longing, but we need to be satisfied in the here and now.

What adventures you will have, moving and house buying and becoming a grandparent! I wish you joy in all of it.

Yes, and satisfied is such a hard place to find. But God says that's where we need to be...satisfied in Him, satisfied in where He has us. I've been meditating on Psalm 1 this week. Speaking of satisfied, I'm envious that you're moving. Lol!

I think satisfied is a wonderful word for the new year. Being satisfied is good. :)

Best of luck finding the right place in Phoenix. I have never been, but I have friends who live fairly close and they love it. I prefer the warm weather to the cold too!

Yay; the move is really happening! Now, your realtor sounds like a hoot! I like how she 'gets' you, and the two of you can play fun mind games while on the hunt.

Satisfied? Your explanation makes such great sense. I sense you've put lots of thought and prayers into that decision.

There is a show with realtors showing houses. Well, several. Have you seen HGTV? If not, you need to check it out now. Because, that's all they seem to air. (Like the show called House Hunters. Someone's looking for a house. They find three candidates. They make you wait until the end to find out which one they chose.)

Sounds like your move is going to be great.

Sounds like you're satisfied, too! Don't forget your sunscreen grandma! Humidity would matter more to me than temperature. 2016, to cherishing moments! Thy will be done.

Betty, this post is awesome! Love your word for this season, "satisfied." How pleasing to God when we relax and tell Him we are satisfied. I'm excited about Phoenix. I think that is wise. I like to pray about these things so I'm praying you will find that special home and find satisfaction there as you build closer relationships with family...especially that little grandchild soon to come. I'm happy for you!

I couldn't get to you post today from my Feedly account. I got to the one before it and then just updated the page. Weird! I like your word and the meaning behind it. My sister in laws live in Peoria which is a lovely area in Arizona. I myself will most likely weather the cold someday to be by a grandchild! Mark would love to live in Arizona's heat. You have so many wonderful and exciting things to look forward to in 2016. I'm so happy for you. ((Hugs)) Debby

That is an excellent word for 2016! I need to learn to be more satisfied with God instead of trying to find satisfaction in my circumstances. I hope you find a good house! I lived in three different parts of the Phoenix-metropolitan area (it's a huge metropolis!) when I was a kid and it's a good city. It did get hot, but it was so much better than Oklahoma's humid heat!

I think your word is perfect for this year. I've actually had many folks talking about this year and one said they felt very strongly that this was going to be a good year and not because they thought it was going to have them richer, or with no troubles, but because they have faith that God is with them in all ways and they were not worrying about anything...He would help them handle it. I'm thinking "satisfied" is a good word! Good luck on your house hunt! Happy New Year!

My brother and his extended family live in Phoenix and love it. They play Frisbee Golf in 180 degree weather. A bit hot for me but they don;t seem to have a problem with it.

Hi Betty! Well, it looks like you have much to look forward to in the new year... and I talk mostly about the new addition. There will be nothing more blessed than holding the little one in your arms. My 4 year old allowed me to rock her for the longest time today and I was like... this is heavenly... lol I hope that every good thing you are looking into for the new year comes to fruition. I am sure it will. All in God's timing.

Goodness, I can't believe it's nearly time for Baby to arrive!! Seems like just two months ago...well, like you said, time seems to just fly by these days.

I've worked a little on my A-Z as well. Still not 100% certain what I'll do other than photos.

Be patient about the house hunting. The right one is out there.

"Satisfied" is a wonderful, wonderful word!
