Bench and Blog

A-Z, on a journey to learn more about me :)

B - Blog and Bench

I like to blog; been blogging since 2005; my first blog was called "Of Mini-Paws and Menopause".  Over the years I've deleted and started lots of different blogs, but in 2012 started this present one "A Bench With a View" inspired by a bench I saw on a hill overlooking the ocean in the San Diego area.

I'm always on the lookout for benches with a view.

Sometimes the view is a good one, sometimes it is not.  But always fun to see what I will find as I look for benches with views.

I like blogging for the friendships made and learning about different parts of the country and world. I treasure each and every person that reads my "silliness" and those that have been with me through thick and thin and those of have been with me almost from the beginning all the way back to 2005 and are still blogging to this day.  I'm thinking of Ma (who writes great inspirational blogs) and Meg (who has weathered many a storm of mine).  So many have moved on to Facebook or stopped blogging, but so thankful for the community of bloggers I've connected with.  I love you all.

How about you? How long have you been blogging and why do you like to do so?

Love your posts and always loved that picture of the bench cos it makes me want to sit there. I started in 2009 to look at cards and enter in challenges but it grew to so much more and I love blogging and reading what everyone is doing and facing. It is motivating to me

I have been blogging since the end of 2008. I have three blogs, although did have a fourth one when I was writing my book where I would talk about that process.

One is a theological blog. One is a blog about my part-time teaching of DUI classes. The blog I go to the most and write on about once a week is called Plant City Lady and Friends. In that blog I chronicled my late husband's mixed dementia and Alzheimer's; he never knew I KEPT this blog, but it KEPT me. Like you I met wonderful people along the way including you.

I love your benches with a view and I love your blog. Blogging is my passion too. I love my blog buddies. You are wonderful friends, indeed. I like that you are always there with a kind word or advice when i need it. Can't imagine not blogging.

I love your bench with a view also. Arizona must be a fantastic place to live. I would love the weather. I'm in Louisiana. I went to law school in Michigan and then lived in Florida. One thing is certain ... I hate cold weather.

I've been blogging off and on (mostly off for the last year) for about three years. I've always wondered about starting my blog over, but it seems like so much trouble to reconnect with people. I want to switch to Wordpress, but I am a big chicken.

I hope to get to know you better during the challenge.

I've been blogging for over ten years - on and off in various places. Began as part of a mini on line community, then to support theological studies - evolved and changed a lot since then!

I'm in my 4th year of blogging and my 4th year with AtoZ. Mine is a family history and genealogy blog in which I share my personal family research and stories. I have made some wonderful friends through my blog, some of whom I know better than people I know in person.

I've had a blog since 2004 - started on Livejournal (LJ) for sharing fanfic. My current blogs I started in 2010, because they are linked to me as an author, which I only started professionally then.

I have some really dear friends I met through the internet, some of them through LJ and some before that when mailing lists were the way to communicate.

I love blogging because it's so much fun to share things with people and connect with them. I love benches too - I have an ankle condition that makes walking hard, so benches with a view are like lifelines :).

First of all you are one of my favorite bloggers.
I started blogging in 2010. That’s when my son was diagnosed with cancer. Frankly, I needed an outlet to express my emotions during the most difficult time of our lives.
The bonus was the support of a most generous community.

I had to check my Profile because I really didn't know how long I'd been blogging. Apparently, it's been since 2007.

PS Love the title: Mini-Paws and menopause!

There's nothing better than when you've been walking for a while and see a bench haha!

I like the view from your bench... and your blog. =)

Started blogging in 2011; I've met some wonderful people through blogging, and that's what keeps me coming back!

Well my current blog has been active since Tuesday lol. I've been a blogger on and off for several years and in the past I always chose a narrow theme, and then always got burned out. I love blogging and writing (I have a writing degree collecting dust somewhere) and I keep coming back to it. This time around I'm trying something new and I'm not following a strict theme or schedule. I'm hoping it will keep things fresh for both me and my readers this way and I'll actually stick with it for a while this time :)

I started blogging sometime before 2008 (but am not sure exactly when since I deleted all of the oldest entries one day.)

I too, treasure the friends I've made blogging and would love to sit on a bench with you someday - somewhere. :)

Checked my profile since Maria Zannini mentioned the thought...

...and it says "On Blogger since November 2006."

Goodness, time flies.

You know I love to blog and I have to say your comments always do make me smile. I feel like you are a friend for sure. I love the pictures of the benches you find. The views are amazing.

Not a bad bench with a view there. You've been around longer than the cat, 2011 is when we started at our blog mat.

Sandy said...

I've been blogging so long, I don't remember when I started. Like you, I had other blogs, think the first was on aol, but I couldn't get anyone to participate, then I had one on msn spaces which was great for awhile, but people fell by the way side, then yahoo, then several others who's names I can't remember. Then blogspot! Yeah, I too love writing and reading blogs, and have had the pleasure of meeting a few folks in person after getting to them through Bridge and Beyond. I have other blogs but am about to delete a few that I just don't use anymore. I'm going to be your newest follower by the way. I do facebook, but I like the different way to communicate with blogging better. Facebook has lots of drama, and I tire of some of it, but it's a good way to find people because of the volume.

I started in 08 and have slowly fizzled out. I do love to write and tell stories but time usually gets in the way. Or maybe I don't manage my time well. Yep, that's it.
I never stopped reading my favorite blogs though!

I've been blogging since 2010. I love it because the connection I make with people just feels deeper than using Facebook and the rest.

orneryswife said...

I began in 2007. For awhile I was great guns, blogging sometimes 2 or 3 posts in a day. I have changed sites as well, though, and have only been on Orneryswife for a couple of years.

My favorite bench with a view is still the place I go to in my mind when I close my eyes to calm my thoughts. It was on the ocean side of Kwajalein, in the Marshall Islands. A mile out from the shore, the water was a mile deep, and the water was so blue it almost hurt to look at it. The bench was located outside the Colonel's back door, but it wasn't in his yard, so we often strolled there after dinner and just sat and watched the hermit crabs scuttle around on the rocks and enjoyed the roar of the water.

Jemima Pett said...

That's a great view!

I started blogging more or less as a journal. Then the guinea pigs demanded their own blog. Then I started writing their stories and then I became an author, and now I blog about writing and books and science and things that I like anyway. As you say, things change over the years!

I started blogging in 2011. I was the carer for my partner, couldn't go out and needed an outlet. It was initially supposed to be to join in with some of the card making challenges, but that never happened.

My blog, and the friends I've made through it, kept me sane through that period of my life and has been important to me since his death. It keeps me in touch with others and helps me to feel involved, plus for me, it is a pleasant way of keeping a record of what I'm up to.

Now you've got me wanting to go on a hunt for benches with views! I've been blogging since 2007, but that was sporadically, i started fully blogging in 2013.

I love your views of benches. I like to look for them, too, when going on road trips. I have a great pic of a bench at the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder that I'll have to share some day.

Hi Betty,

Benches… I love sitting on a bench and letting my imagination take me away.

As to bloggers that have left and moved on to Facebook, I've had the same experience, which saddens me, as I miss them. (I don't Facebook)

I hope one day they will return to blogging. Like you I value and appreciate those still doing it, and still part of my blog's journey.

You've been the most amazing blogger, your comments are rich and full of great energy - I wanted to drop by and say "thank you". You've added smiles to my blogging day.

I hope you're having fun with the A to Z Challenge. I know I am! :)

I started my first blog on MySpace, back in 2007, I think. Maybe 2006. It migrated to Blogger a short time later, and has been there ever since.

I started the blog because as a kid I wanted to have my own newspaper column--the ones on Sunday in the lifestyle section that weren't about anything at all, necessarily. I think that blogging is that for a modern world.

Since 2011. I've had as many blogs as states I've lived in. :)

I bet some of the AOL journalers are blogging and we just don't know where they are. Those were good times!

We love you, too, Betty!

I started blogging in 2010, and I love it! I've cut back this year a lot because of some family health issues but I still love it! A blog is kind of like a bench where we can meet new friends as we sit there and stare into the landscape of the mind.

I began blogging in earnest in 2009 and have been on a bit of sporadic hiatus for the past 2 years. I did it then to chronicle my adventures as the teaching part of a homeschool family. I do it now as a release as the traditional dad part of a homeschool family and because I enjoy good content driven communication. Thanks for stopping in for some bibimbap.

In a way, I consider my blog an open forum version of my private journal. I started journalling in 1984. That ended in 1989 where I began a second journal lasting till about 1992 when I got married. A few journals since then have come and gone. I then managed my own web site for awhile, equipped with a public forum. Every Friday I'd write what I called a rant. Finding something little to complain about. That lasted for a short time, followed by a very brief stint blogging with Myspace. After leaving that I stopped writing for a short perioed but soon found blogger. In 2008 I started blogging in it's purest sense. It's had it's growing pains and has been divided into two other blogs at one point. It's now in the form it is, for the past few years. What will the future hold? Undoubtedly, more blogging. At least more writing, in some form or another.

Sorry for the long reply. I get carried away when I start writing.

I like your blog name. I also like to find good benches to sit on while walking the dog and watch the world go by.

I've had a handful of blogs, a couple I abandoned because I lost interest in them or because I feared they were becoming too personal. Another one I left when I adopted a new online username and wanted to leave some bad memories behind.

I've been blogging on my Click's Clan blog since the end of 2011 and it's kind of scary how long this has been my home on the internet. I like building friendships with fellow bloggers. I love how helpful the A to Z Challenge is for doing that. :-)
