Arizona

We begin the A/Z challenge; my theme is A-Z telling about me.

I live now in the state of Arizona.  Moved here this past January 2015 from the San Diego area.  Never thought a few years ago I would be living here, but I like the area where I live and so far the weather is pretty pleasant.

I was born in Pennsylvania, have lived in Southern California, Oregon, back to Southern Calfifornia, then New Mexico, Montana, back to California (3 separate cities) and now Arizona.  Visited a lot of states, but not all 50.  I would like to do that some day, but probably not in the immediate future, maybe in our retirement days.

(Picture was taken at Sharlot Hall Museum)

How many states have you lived in?

I love anything history. Authentic relics that are restored are the best. But replicas are cool too. We take every opportunity to educate our kids about history every chance we get.

jack69 said...

I like the entry, we have lived in 8 or 9 states. We have been fortunate to visit all 50 states. Of course most were visited after retirement.
You are a MOVER for sure. Not every one is cut out for it.

This will be fun to get to know you even better! I have lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, back to Kansas, to Virginia, and back to Kansas. My living in Oklahoma and Virginia were very, very brief.

It will be fun reading about you and the new state you live in. You have moved quite a bit! I hope you will be able to settle in now

Born & raised in Massachusetts, moved to Rhode Island with family in my late teens. Moved to Vermont to go to college. My mother's side of the family are from the Shelburne Falls/Charlotte area, where they were farmers up until the 1960s. They are Abenaki, of the Algonquin nation (a few A's on my part :) ). As a newlywed, I moved to Florida with my husband. After my husband passed away I moved to Michigan for a few years, but as much as I liked it, I was homesick and moved back to Massachusetts.

TARYTERRE said...

I am glad you found a place to settle that you like. I too lived in Pennsylvania and absolutely loved it. If I miss anywhere in my travels that is it.

I live in the UK and although I've live in 13 different houses, they've all been located in the same area, i.e. Wiltshire, plus Devon when I went to college.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you through these posts.

None. I'm South African. I've moved about 15 times in my life though (I think.)

You are really well traveled. I've only lived in 7 places my whole life and four of those are in Kent (UK). I've lived away from Kent (where my family, parents and twin sister, live), but discovered that home is where the heart is, and now I live a few doors down from my twin (we didn't like being too far apart).

I have visited one state (Florida) and only ever lived in two counties back home in the UK. I'm a Kentish girl born and bred and I suspect I will stay here my whole life :).

Love the covered wagon photo, and learning more about you!

I was born in Indiana, and lived here most of my life, but have also lived in Florida, Georgia, and South Dakota for brief periods.

I have only lived in one state, but I have visited all the states you have lived and enjoyed them all.

Wow, you've lived in quite a few places! I have a friend that moved to Arizona for a bit.

G'day,

I have only lived in two states. New South Wales in Australia and Virginia in the Unites States. I am not a fan of packing and moving so I doubt ill add to this list anytime soon.

I've "lived" in Arizona for a week - if that counts!

Let me see - California, Indiana, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, Alabama, and couple of others like Colorado and Illinois if you count the shorter stays.

I've been to most of the states - I think I have about 6 to go! Maybe we will meet up when we are "doing the rest of them!"

Good morning! I like the state of Arizona; I've been there twice. The weather is a little hard to get used to. I'm used to east coast temps. If you consider Washington, DC a state, I've lived in 4 states. BTW, I gave a shout out to your A - Z challenge on FictionZeal.com. :)

Linda said...

Lived in just one state, two neighboring cities. Never traveled by covered wagon before, wouldn't that be fun? Like your idea of seeing more states but by car.

Veronica Lee said...

I have lived only in two states in Malaysia - my hometown in Perak and Selangor where I currently am after I left home for college.

Happy Tuesday, dear Betty!

You have lived a lot of different places. I on the other hand have pretty much stayed put right here in my own hometown. I have moved to different houses, but within the same city. I dream about a place on the beach but am pretty sure that will never happen. Like you I have had the chance to visit a lot of places but unlike Jack I've not seen all of our states. Hope you continue to enjoy where you are now.

I love that header photo of your bench with a view. There is one almost like it when I climb my mountain. So many friends of mine live in Arizona and they invite me down but I've only been there once.

I've only lived in 1 state Ohio. Have traveled quite a bit and been in 33 states, though some of that is passing through and or landing in an airport. Hubby and I will soon be traveling to your state for vacation, and while there will be catching up with some old high school classmates for a mini reunion of sorts. Happy 1st day of the challenge.

I've only ever lived in Ohio, but the last couple of winters are dimming my appreciation.

Eight states. And I was born in Pennsylvania, too.

Very cool picture! I just love museums.

I've only lived in three states: South Carolina, Texas (only for a year before going back to South Carolina), and North Carolina.

...how many states have I lived in..? Hmm... I have lived in 8 but I have been in 30... have not been much in the plain states or Pacific Nor'west....

Nice. I've lived in 3 states in Malaysia.
But since Malaysia is probably the size of a single state in the US... that's not very far at all. :)

Debby@Just Breathe said...

I think a road trip around the states would be fun and a great way to enjoy the retirement years! I've lived in Illinois and California, that's it.
Happy Easter and may God continue to bless you.....Debby

I've only lived in the one state. Three different counties (that are all pretty close to one another). I'm not that much of a mover.

Great into to your theme! I have only lived in Texas and only two cities. I've seen a lot of this state, but certainly not all. I've also been to Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

I've only lived in three states plus the District of Columbia, but like you a definitely want to travel and at least visit all fifty.

Good luck on the rest of the challenge!

I've always lived in the same state but I've traveled to quite a few. Haven't been to Arizona but it's on my list. I love Colorado so I came close a few times.

I've been to many of the places you have, sadly nothing south of the 15 in Arizona. One of these days I will. :)

Tennessee and Virginia are the only states I've lived in stateside, but I also had the privilege of temporary residence in London and Melbourne, Australia. Arizona looks like a great place to live, though. I hear a lot of good things about it. Nice and dry with little to no allergens...?

My life has been quite uneventful in moving. I was born in North Dakota. My family moved to Wisconsin when I was nine years old. I have lived in more than one city in Wisconsin though.

I love the Arizona covered wagon.

Chatty Crone said...

I have lived in two. Chicago - Atlanta - Chicago - Atlanta. So four moves!

Trudy said...

I've lived in 8 states. Sometime in my 40s I realized I was getting close to seeing all 50 states so I set the goal to visit the rest by my 50th year. It ended up being adjusted to "before the END of my 50th year" and I accomplished it.

Shell Flower said...

My twin sister lived in Arizona for a few years when her husband went to ASU for grad school. It was lovely to visit in the winter, but pretty intense in the summer. This time of year must be perfect. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Oh gosh--I had to count! Tennessee, Missouri, Ohio, and West Virginia (I was born there, so it doesn't count--I don't remember it!) All of those states but Tennessee were my homes before the age of 7!

I visited San Diego during our L.A. trip, by the way--AWESOME Mexican food. We went to that haunted house over in Old Town. The Whaley House. I had to look it up!

Mevely317 said...

Congratulations on your great turn-out, Betty! :)

Let's see, I've lived in Minnesota, N.M., Texas, Florida and now Arizona. (Hope to add Alabama to the roster before I die!)
Legally, I can say I've seen all 50 states -- but that's only on account my dad took some 'detours' on our 50's summer vacations. There's so many places I'd love to return and experience as an adult!

Jerralea said...

It will be fun to get to know you better.

Let's see, I've lived in Illinois three times, and in Indiana, and in Florida.

I haven't been to all 50 states yet, but would love to. I especially want to visit New England.

I love that covered wagon. I still have a hard time believing people crossed the country with all their belongings in those! I've been to the Grand Canyon but haven't seen much else in Arizona.

I've lived in 8 states: Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Ohio, Washington, and back to Ohio!

Sheethal Susan Jacob said...

Great start! All the best for the journey.

I loved that station wagon, it's beautiful! :)

Minnesota, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and then Missouri again.

Military moves?

Iowa, California, Illinois, Ireland (not a state) and California!

Wow your comments overwhelmed me . I have lived in one state all my life but have visited about 15. I can claim Arizona as a visit but it was only for 2 hours as a layover but I was there. I almost spent a lot of hours there because a storm came through my hometown and cancelled some flights. Then upon making it home, I discovered that a sandstorm hit Phoenix and hour later and shut that airport down.

I've lived in 5 different cities located in 2 different states and in 2 different countries.

3 States, one of which was Arizona! Had some good times there and covered a lot of ground of the State! But I loved making the drive to San Diego. Routine stop at the A&W in Gila Bend for a root beer float on the way!

I haven't lived in ANY states, but I've visited Washington, Oregon, a bit of California, and recently visited Phoenix. Phoenix is beautiful! I've lived in BC and Alberta, though!
Looking forward to catching up on your blog!

After being absent from reading blogs for quite awhile, I'm back. I've been reading back through your blog and enjoying catching up with all the changes in your life since I last read. I find it fascinating that you were born in PA...because that is the state I was born in...and where I still live.
