Friday letters Las Vegas style

Linking up with Paula over at Smidgens, Snippets, and Bits for this week's Friday letters.  To play along click here:

My letters (based on a few days in the Las Vegas area this past week)

Dear Henderson, Nevada:

Lovely weather we had during our stay. Enjoyed lots of sunshine and the mid 70 temperatures,

signed, a warm body.

Dear Green Valley Ranch Resort:

Really, $14.40 for a glass of wine? It was good, not outstanding, but not worth that price. I could buy several bottles of wine for the cost of two glasses at your Lobby Bar.  Sorry, won't be going there again.

signed, a disgruntled bar hopper

Dear Lindo Michoacan:

Best Mexican food ever! And I've eaten quite a lot of Mexican food over the years.  Good atmosphere, wonderful view, attentive servers, delicious food. What more can I say?

signed, a stuffed diner

Dear Company that put on meeting hubby was at:

Thank you very much for including me in the dinners Tuesday and Wednesday night.  That was very kind of you.  Totally enjoyed myself and the places you picked to eat were definitely winners in my sight.

signed, a grateful wife

Dear Mini-Bar in Hotel:

I never stayed at a hotel with a mini bar before.  In eager anticipation I looked to see what you had in store for me.  I didn't appreciate the $8 for a large water or $4 for a small one, or $30 for a small 375 mL bottle of wine or the other prices for soft drinks and snacks. And that Intimacy Kit for $25? Let me just say it took hours to get the blush off my face after reading what was in it.  Needless to say, I didn't buy anything from you.

signed, a thrifty consumer

Dear Black or White movie:

Truly enjoyed watching you while hubby was at his meeting. Not a lot of times I get to see what could be considered a chick flick.  Was disappointed when the movie was over.  I wanted more.

signed, a movie reviewer

Dear Casino:

Ewww....that's all I have to say.  I know you cater to the crowds, but the smoke in there......even in the nonsmoking section. In the future during a remodel, you might want to consider moving the food court to a totally nonsmoking separate part of the casino.  Just saying........

signed, wanting to keep healthy lungs

Dear Bloggers:

That was my last few days.  Enjoyed getting away for a few days while hubby had a meeting and had some time to myself.  Did not gamble, but walked around enjoying the sites, people watching, a shopping center close by, good food, a movie.  Thankful for safe travels.

signed, Betty

Vegas is so much fun! Glad you were able to get away! And the intimacy kit is a new one for me! Only in Vegas.

I love the Vegas bench!!!

:) Sounds like you had lots to eat so raiding the mini-bar wasn't necessary! Thank goshes for that! The prices!! It's legalized thievery!

Cute idea! Only thing better than letters would be post cards, photo for each one! :) Glad you had the opportunity and had such a great time! Smoke does seem to permeate everywhere, even if designated area! Daughter liked the warm weather in Henderson while getting masters at UNLV.

Dear Betty, it sounds like you had a wonderful trip, minus those crazy prices, the interesting find that came with your room, ( yikes, I would be afraid to look at it!) and the smoking. Have a great weekend, I enjoyed your letters!

All in all, a great trip. I've always perused the mini-bars, smiled, and closed the door.
Cannot believe there still is indoor smoking in Vegas. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, I see.

Very interesting take. I have to smile about the mini bar. Prices are weird for sure. But the intimacy kit? ah HA!
I love your view also.

I really am not a gambler either, but we do people watch and look at the sights. I would probably waste a few quarters if they took real money. So I guess if I was writing I would write to the slot machine my displeasure.
There were good. THANKS for the entertainment.

I love your collection of letters! $14.40 is a lot for a glass of wine. I don't think I'd spend that. I tend to pinch pennies. :P

Awesome bench view! We love Henderson, have thought about retiring there. Going to have to try that Mexican restaurant. We never take anything from the mini bars...crazy prices! So glad you had a little getaway. Mark and I are meeting his sister & Pam at Fantasy Springs Casino outside Palm Springs for a few days this month. Happy Valentine's Day.

I love how you used your letters to re-cap your Las Vegas trip. I am such a cheap skate and I wouldn't spend that much on a glass of wine either. The prices in the mini-bar are ridiculous aren't they. We never found a Intimacy Kit! Vegas is the perfect place for people watching. That is what Richard and I loved to do. (Although I will admit I liked the slots too)

Yes, those casinos can be really gruesome. A lot of wet wipes and a face mask :/

Betty,

I enjoyed your letters very much. What an entertaining idea for a post. I also like your new bench with a view photo. I'd like to sit there with my camera in my hand. Beautiful view!

Be thankful the $25 sex thing was not already open and used-ick! I know how money grabbing mini bars are-crazy! Glad you enjoyed a great old movie(which one??). We have a casino in Niagara Falls (horrible place since so many gamble everything away) and they made it smoke free years ago.

This theme reminds me a little of Jimmy Falon's thank you notes.

An interestig way of telling us about your week. :) Glad you had the getaway.

LOVED the letters. Glad you had a nice getaway. Sounds like you visited some great places. In all the years I've traveled I have never stayed in a hotel that has offered an Intimacy Kit. Oh my word, I'd be blushing too. It's a new world.

All in all I'd say you had a great time and enjoyed yourself. How nice you were included in the trip for your hubby's work. I can only dream about 70 degrees and sunshine here. It's to be in the zero's here

I hear ya on the casino thing. I did a post once on them but I called them Smokinos.
Never heard of an intimacy kit but then again i don't get out much.

We did Vegas last year at this time. We barely gambled either, as we had the kids with us, but absolutely had a great time.

Funny though, one of the few bets the husband made while he was there was for the Patriots to win the super bowl. Rumor has it the casino just received our ticket to cash out. :)

I've never been to Vegas. Glad you had fun!

love the postcards...jealous that you went to vegas....I just want to go and see

GREAT post, Betty! I'm seriously impressed by your hubby's company allowing their participants' spouses to come along.

But really - $14+ for a glass of wine? I'm inclined to buy a whole bottle for less, and it's not even a screw-top... LOL.

Tom and I went to Vegas a few years ago, when our company still offered its associates 'comp' lodging at affiliated hotels. Unfortunately, we soon discovered the awesome and INEXPENSIVE buffets a thing of the past.
I don't expect we'll be going back anytime soon.

That's an outrageous price for just a glass of wine! And the mini-bar!!! Unreal!

I haven't yet tagged along with my husband on a business trip. Well--I did once...and it was a blast. I need to travel more, for sure! I can work in the hotel room while he's out working, so it's a great plan.

Glad you had fun, Betty. I did Vegas more than 20 years ago and it was truly awesome.

Sounds like you had an amazing time!! I'd love to visit Vegas someday :)

Dear Betty,
$15 for a glass of wine? I too have been a victim of the hotel wine price scam. Now, I just stop at the nearest gas station, pick up a 7.99 bottle of Yellow Tail and enjoy a glass or three in my room. Saves big bucks!

I sure enjoyed reading these!!! I enjoy people watching as well!!

I'd love to be any place that was above freezing! Sounds like you had a good time!

I have to agree about the eating and smoking. When I'm eating with the fam I don;t want the smell of stale cigarette smoke lingering in the air. And believe it or not it's hard to find great Mexican food. Much of what I see is American Mexican food I can make myself.

Dear Betty,

I enjoyed reading your Vegas letters. I doubt I ever go there, but now I know what to avoid and what to embrace!

Loved especially your letter to the mini bar. I can't believe someone would pay those prices. I'd have to be really sick and unable to leave my room ...

Betty! Next time you come to Henderson, NV...we have to hook up. We live very close to GV Ranch Casino...up the hill in Anthem...

I know I have been away from blogging for so long....too long, but I stop in every now and again to check on everyone...I'm glad to see you are still blogging...I thought you had stopped...

Haha Sounds like you had a doozy of a time looking through that mini bar. They charge outrageous prices, don't they?

You should have hit a slot machine or two! I remember my first time in a casino, all those lights! It was pretty fascinating, and yes, smokey. I've been in a couple other casinos, but none ever quite got me like that first one did. Sinfully, I did hit a slot machine or four while I was in each of them.

$14.40 for a drink??!! lolz I can make two meals off that kind of money. I have been know to spend way yonder too much on a drink too, though. And they are never worth it. I'd rather spend too much on dessert! :::big grin::: oh wait! I'm not doing sugar these days. :::not so big grin:::
