A decade old

I would be amiss

If I did not tell you this

But today Koda is 10

And what an adventure it has been.

Happy Birthday Koda!

Just some of the MASSIVE amount of pictures I've taken of him over the years. In random order of his age and some I know I've shared before.

Walking; something he always enjoyed doing. Still does, though slower these days.

Sitting in the hot August sun. He would do that at times.  Would worry me if he would get overheated, but he never did.

A pose he did a lot.

Showing off his dog's license after our move 3-1/2 years ago.

Walking by water's edge (not quite, but you get the idea).

Just content I think.

A young pup when we lived in Montana.  Notice he had some black still in his forehead area. He would lose all the black fur he had there and become the red headed tricolor corgi he is to this day.

Sleeping outside in front of son's door; waiting for an invitation into the bedroom.

Yes, we bought the couch to match him. (Seriously).

You guys know we got him from Alabama when we lived in Montana. He flew to us when he was 9 weeks old.  We got him from a breeder.  He cost $400 (this was back in February 2005).  It cost $250 to ship him to Montana.

Out of curiosity, I looked recently at corgi puppies available in Arizona where we are moving.  I saw a cute one, but not as cute as Koda, listed for $2150.

I love Koda dearly, but I don't think I would have spent that much on him.

Would you spend that much for a dog?

Betty,

Happy birthday Koda! It sounds like that was the best $400 you ever spent. I can see Koda is such a big part of your family and life. Would I spend a lot of money for a dog? No. We got our dog Nora from the animal shelter. A pure bred dog might have been nice but we decided it would be better to give a home to an unwanted dog instead. Nora has turned out to be the perfect addition to our family. I enjoyed looking at all your photos!

He is a gorgeous pup!
We spend a fair amount for our German shepherd Kona but our other 3 are rescues.

Happy Birthday Koda!

$2150 is about RM7,400. Nope! I wouldn't spend so much for a dog.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KODA. Have a great day. Enjoyed your photos. Had alot of pets, never paid a dime for them. But that is not to say I wouldn't have.

Happy #10 Koda!!! (Seriously), I can understand buying the couch to coordinate. It's lovely, by the way.
... but not nearly as cute as Mr. K!

I really never spent much on a dog. $50 was probably the tops. I did have one with a pedigree once but he came to us free as his original owners could no longer keep him. My budget would never have that kind of money in it for a dog. Happy Birthday to your Koda. It certainly has been a wonderful 10 years for you both.

He has had a good life indeed so far. That isn't a bad price for a dog, but yeah now it is ridiculous. The cat was rather pricey and besides one extra vet trip besides the snip snip, that was the only extra cost, knock on wood. My other was free and she's cost more in vet bills than he cost to buy and fly here. Happy birthday to him.

Happy birthday to Koda!
Dodger came from a shelter so not much original cost but we have spent thousands on him in the 5 years we have had him. My daughter got a boxer from a shelter about 6 weeks ago and the dog had to have a $2800 surgery before they had had him for a month.

Happy Birthday Koda!!!!

...and no... I wouldn't spend that much for a dog! The SPCA has plenty of doggies looking for some love!

Happy decade one to Koda. Wow, 2150! Not easy money, that's for sure.

Koda is the first Corgi we ever met, and wish it had been in person. Now we speak to the corgi owners in RV parks and tell of our Corgi Friend who blogs (well his mama blogs for him).

I love dogs, but No, I would never pay that much for a dog. I do know folks who have come close to that price for a 'coon dog'.

I like the ones called 'throw aways', I think they can steal your heart, just as much as the $2000 ones. Ones who would appreciate the love of a home. I don't think it happens too much any more, but years ago people put dogs out on the country roads that they did not want, they became known as throw away dogs. I always thought that was sad.
BUT HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE CORGI WHO WON THE LOTTERY, KODA!

No I would not spend that much.
I think my parents did though.

Happy Birthday Koda!!! He's such a cutie!

I wouldn't pay that for a dog. Here (it seems to be a major issue in the rural south) there are way too many in the shelter. It seems like Koda was worth it for you, though. :-)

Koda's 10th BD calls for a celebration! Enjoy his big day! He even matches the carpet.

I just read plenty of Corgi's looking for homes on Corgi Rescue and often diabetic around his age.

Happy Birthday Koda! I hope Koda got a nice doggie cake or special cookies:) They just bring so much love don't they? It places a great smile on my face and I love that you had to match the couch to Koda. I could never spend that much for a dog. I always like to rescue a doggie and I do miss my black lab Katie but Wallace makes up for it (He is wearing his Christmas bells on his collar now).

Aww. Happy Birthday to your dear Koda!

That is a lot of money to pay for a dog. Our dog certainly wasn't cheap and I don't know if we will go that route again. She is definitely worth it, the best dog we've ever had, but I would like to rescue dogs from now on.

Our Dixie is a little older than Koda and at the time there is no way I'd spend that kind of money on a dog, but now I wouldn't take a million for her.

Happy Birthday Koda

Happy belated birthday, Koda!

I don't know that I'd spend more than what the shelter charged to adopt. Just too many animals needing homes. I am not saying I'd never buy another breed...but I certainly wouldn't pay $2000+! lolz

Happiest Birthday, dear Koda!! You don't look a day over 9! You are the sweetest thing, and you look wonderful. May you have many, many more!

Hey Koda, it's me Marty here. Make sure your people give you a treat (or twenty). If you can, try to pout. It works for me...

Happy belated birthday, Koda.

I wouldn't buy a dog. There are plenty waiting for homes in shelters. But I'm sure Koda was worth it.

Happy Birthday Koda! He's a cutie and I know you love him dearly. I hope his health stays good..even if the walks are slower! The answer to your question..that would be a NO! If we ever get another dog, it will be a pound puppy probably.

Happy Belated Birthday to Koda! Love all the pictures. I just might pay that much for a dog but it does seem crazy.

We were five days without a Maltise as Woofii had to be put to sleep. I Googled Florida Maltise Breeders and got seven-month-old Ziggy for $500 from a lady who could no longer keep pets because of her back. So glad we did that as Ziggy was a wonderful companion for my late husband.

Happy Belated Birthday Koda!! I enjoyed seeing all the photos!! I would have spent the $400 but I couldn't afford the prices of today! Geez

Happy Birthday, Koda! Love the pics-- Koda looks so content--he must have the best owners! ;)
No, I wouldn't spend $2K on a dog. We've always gotten our pets for free, I think. But now I would be willing to spend a few hundred for the right pet. It's lonely without a dog or cat in the house! (mice don't count!)

Happy Belated Birthday to Koda! What a handsome fella he is! I can't imagine spending that much on a dog, especially when there are a lot of dogs who need to be rescued!
