he's a classy guy

Most of you guys know my husband is a professional guitarist, so occasionally he plays music at home (okay maybe more than occasionally).  He plays both, electric and classical guitar.

Hubby just told me the other day Koda prefers the classical guitar to the electric.  He tends to stick more close to hubby while he's playing classical and will be in a whole entirely different part of the house when he's playing electric.

Must be soothing to his ears.

What about you? What kind of music do you like?

I love it when songs feature an acoustic guitar solo (or maybe they just make it sound like that). I also like hearing the trumpet, but probably because that's what my son played.

I'm with Koda, classical guitar, especially when you are lucky enough for it to be live music.

There's a wide range of music that I like, but probably I am not at all up-to-date on my listening. I listen to my old playlists and new podcasts on my iPod from years ago while I drive in the car. I like skipping commercials on the radio.

I have a whole music stand full of sheet music and a piano. My usual song I play is "Happy Birthday" at church because no one I know seems to know it "by heart". However, I trained a young guy at church to play it. I need to play music on my piano. The other day I started to play a ditty on my piano that I usually know by heart, and I couldn't play it.

It is time that I break out the music and answer your question as to what kind of music I like. Plus, my dogs have always liked it when I play the piano. I will have to test different kinds of music on Ziggy so I can see what he likes. These days he is usually by my side. I will know when he goes into another room.

That's interesting that Koda prefers classic guitar music. Not surprising though.

I like to listen to loud, heavy guitar rock. Koda would hate it. You probably would, too :)

Your Koda is a classy guy for sure. I love hearing some one play classical guitar. I do like a lot of different kinds of music though so it would be hard for me to choose a favorite.

I grew up with Country and Rock and Roll. I had never heard classical until I was 27. I was in the Library passing the time and sat down where a set of head phones were hanging. I put them on and my view of the world changed. It wasn't a steady diet, but I did learn to appreciate it

I am sure Koda feels the soothing music is 'COOL'.

How interesting Koda's differentiation of "music to his ears."

I like both depending on the song i guess. Seems Koda likes it more soothing.

Is Koda a John Denver fan? I suspect he would enjoy hearing "Wild Montana Skies".

I love acoustical guitar! I like a lot of different kinds of music (except rap or heavy metal). Lately, I have been loving hearing piano music. So calming!

I bet the music is soothing to Koda.

Well, at least you know there is nothing wrong with Koda's hearing. I like that he makes his preference clear. Our neighbor plays (and makes) guitars and I love to hear him play.

nothing better than the sound from an acoustic guitar....Probably why I'm a Elvis fan...lol

First... How have you been Betty..? I have not had a computer in a MONTH of Sundays... I occasionally go to the library or school, but that is more "mission oriented" computer time...

I would have loved to learn guitar... and the personal notion of an acoustic guitar always has a better "feel" ... Koda has good taste..!

Our dog prefers the acoustic guitar over the electric guitars. I think it is the string/vibration that they feel/hear. The amp for the electric is at a higher frequency and always makes the dog run. But she'll sit next to my husband on a bench if he is playing the acoustic.

It's so good to see Koda! :) I've been so busy and without a computer! Trying to borrow son's isn't the same nor is going on my cell phone.

I love all kinds of music! I don't like heavy metal or hard rap other than that I listen to it all. I love the Bee Gees and Earth Wind & Fire are a couple of favorites.

I'm a huge fan of the music I used to listen to in high school and college - that would be the 70's stuff. Not the heavy rock stuff per se, but softer rock like Chicago, Kansas, Steve Miller Band, etc. I also liked the quieter music of James Taylor, Carole King, and Loggins & Messina.

Now, if that doesn't *date* me, I don't know what will!!

Koda looks so content. Music soothes the "savage" beast?! :-)

Everything from Supertramp to Hip Hop.

I just plain like music. About the only thing I don't like is Rap! Otherwise I like it all. My ex used to sit around and strum a guitar. Just used to piss me off....might have been cause I didn't really like him/not the guitar

There's probably an electronic whine with the electric guitar that bothers Koda's ears.

I like all sorts of music. Depends on my mood.

Disco and I both vote for classical - soothing to the ears and body!

I like soulful music. How nice for you and Koda to be able to have live music all of the time.

I like just about anything except country. When I clean house I like some Pitbull, in the tub I like Enya or Clannad, in the car with my husband, we listen to metal (barf) or classic rock and I love dance music as well.

Truth be told, most days you'll find the radio on country or pop.

But my favorite is the kids singing in the back seat. :)

Cool picture, Betty!
Me, I like most anything EXCEPT rap or hip-hop. Old Broadway show tunes or classic country have been popular on my play list lately. Oh(!), and the soundtrack to Forrest Gump goes most every morning at 4:15. Never get tired of that, and I figure the dogs get amused watching me dancing around the kitchen. :)

The kind of music I listen to depends on my mood. One thing for sure, jazz is not my thing.
Right now, I'm listening to some light and easy songs by Wanting. Have your heard of her before? Here's the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbdcczdTSzU

Awww. That's so sweet.
I can honestly say I listen to just about anything. Jazz, country, rap, crooners, hard rock, hip hop, classical. I love it all. It just depends on my mood. :)

I could definitely see that. The electric guitar's sound can be a lot more unsettling than a classic guitar. My dog gets treats for barking when two songs come on TV--the Cops theme and Who Let the Dogs Out.

I love guitar, especially acoustic. I play 4 cords myself...much more than that if I had a capo. I play jut enough to really appreciate someone who really knows how to play.

I love the photo, Koda looks as though he's having deep thoughts. :^) You mention your husband being a guitarist, did Koda get his name because your husband was a fan of Brownsville Station's Cub Koda?

My musical tastes tend to run the gamut, from classical, blues, rock to country... but there's quite a bit of rock music I used to love as a young adult that I simply can't stand listening to these days.

That's cool. My little sister likes to play guitar too! She use to collect guitars. I enjoy any music that has a happy tune to it. I listen to a variety of music!

I forgot about him playing guitar. That is interesting about Koda. I like smooth jazz a lot.

Sweet that Koda likes one type of music more than others. Just like people do.

I love classical music and prefer classical guitar-Love Ottmar Liebert! I love the Spanish music, almost all music except rap crap and hip hop slop:)

I can understand why an acoustic guitar would sound better to a dog.

Me, I like a huge range of music.
