unique

A - Z, a hard letter

U can prove to be a challenge

but see what you think of

U for Unique

A giant screen; certainly unique by the ocean.

Actually, someone was shooting something down there.

We saw people setting up the screen and lights, people doing makeup on actors and actresses.  Didn't recognize anyone as being famous. Didn't see any signs of what they might be shooting.

But certainly unique to see a screen that day.

Would you expect to see this screen in such a situation?

Filming something? Sure. And those screens can be used to project something to a large crowd.

There's a website somewhere where you can find out what is filming there. I'll have to ask and find out what it is (so you'll be able to look out for the familiar location).

Hi Betty - it does seem somewhat incongruous doesn't it and definitely out of place .. yet if people were around .. perhaps it was for a film school learning - definitely Unique though .. cheers Hilary

Betty,

The area in your photos is so beautiful, I'm not surprised it is being used for filming something, a movie, perhaps? It would be a great setting for a fashion shoot too.

It is a very unique thing to see on a beach. Though with all the beach scenes in movies we should't be surprised. Every walk you take, there seems to be something unique to see there. Very interesting place you have to enjoy.

Is it windy there? That looks like it would blow away.

I think I would be more curious than surprised. I would have had to find out what it was all about.

That does seem unique, or at least its use was. I would have guessed that it was a projection screen for watching a movie as opposed to potentially filming one. But then I don't live in California :)

It does look funny to see a screen there.

Definitely an odd place for a screen - I would think the afternoon sun would make anything projected on to it very hard to see.

Maybe someone made a commercial - I've never seen a TV show, commercial, or movie being shot -- anywhere. Hmmm.. Maybe I should put this on my bucket list.

And now a unique mystery to solve! What a great thing to see and ponder upon~

Quite unique, that screen is gigantic. I think it would have been in the news if a major movie shoot.

Probably just a commercial. That was what was so exciting about visiting L.A. They'd be shooting stuff on the beach and you'd think, "It could be a big movie scene." It would end up being some girl in a bikini. My husband liked it, but I wanted to see celebrities!

Yup I would say that is unique and on a beautiful area like this i would not expect to see this

Unique, indeed. maybe they are going to show a movie on it later, after the sun sets.

Definitely unique! I remember maybe 25 years ago seeing something being filmed on Rodeo Drive on a Sunday. We were told it was called "3000" which we assumed was a futuristic movie. Guess what it was? Pretty Woman! That was the amount she was being paid for the week and they were filming the shopping spree. We didn't see any of the actors but I'm sure they were in the dress shop.

That's kind of fun. It's also fun that you filmed them, filming something else. Very meta ;)

We have a whole stretch of art - giant sculptures of modern art - along the bay front in our town. Always interesting to drive by. :)

This is defiantly something unusual but then again coming across people filming is not an everyday occurrence.

Great post for the AtoZ Challenge. I linked to your participation on my post for 'U' - Unplug, Unwind or Unhinged.

A nice catch for the U in YOU! Yep, that is one unique thing. I would wonder why a breeze did not topple it.. But that in itself is unique!!!

Me, too! (Paula's comment, that is.) One of these days, my curiosity is going to get the best of me. :)
Won't you PLEASE let us know if you ever learn what was really going on?!

Well it could have been a indie movie, but that's cool! I remember when they were shooting a tv show scene, at one of the gas stations, in my neighborhood. I forgot which show it was for, but I thought it was pretty cool! : )
