Jetty

Continuing with A/Z and my theme of where we walk Koda

J - Jetty

People walk on the jetty (both ones that you see here) and fish off them.  The far jetty has railings, this one doesn't.  I'll walk on the jetty with railings, but not this one.  Even though it may be 4-5 feet wide, seems a little narrow to me, LOL, and I'm afraid I'm going to fall off.

Would you take a walk along this jetty?

Yes, I would!

I love all your posts for this challenge and your photos are brilliant. Great choice for the theme.

We have those down at the lake near here and yes I have walked out on them. But not that far.

Probably not!

I would either enjoy the view from the shore or walk on the ones with railings. Me too, afraid of falling in.
The photo is fantastic.

Definitely - I'm so glad my mom taught me how to swim when I was a baby! I'd walk on the jetty even if it were a pile of rocks as long as it was "open to the public".

I love the calm, still, blueness of the water with the seaweed peeking out in the photo.

I would have no issue walking on the jetty. We used to walk on similar ones in Australia as kids and never had an issue. The only time I would not want to go out there is if the waves were crashing onto the path.

I don't think I could walk along that jetty either. The nearest beach we have here is Lake Erie and they do have jetties there that protrude out like that for people to fish off of. One is quite wide and I have been out on that one and actually did some fishing there at one time.

No, I couldn't walk out on the jetty with no rail. Do people fall in often?

Jeanie said...

I would walk on the one with no rails but not if I was walking a dog.

I think I'd walk on it. It's beautiful and I love the water.

All depends on how deep that water is! I've never heard jetty, just pier. I learned a new word! Beautiful blues, lovely photo!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy. (I'm a good swimmer.)

Betty rhymes with Jetty. I feel like Pat Hatt.

Well, I'd call the far one a jetty and the near one a groyne, since it doesnt look like boats could moor up to it. But I'd walk on it since it doesnt have any gaps between the boards that I could slip through! Yes, it's my biggest fear - can't walk on fire escapes, either!

I didn't know they were called Jetty's. I might walk on it but I would prefer the railings. Have a wonderful weekend.

I would walk it. no fear here now if it was on a cliff face high up-then nope-wouldn't walk it. Great theme-love the herons and the trees

No I wouldn't walk on the one without rails. I am a pansy and not afraid to say so. Although I am an excellent swimmer...

I probably would but I wouldn't let the kids...
Growing up in Texas we would go fishing off the jettys all the time and they had no railings... I'm trying to remember how wide they were, maybe twelve feet or so... wide enough for people to fish on both sides and still have room to walk down the middle...
I never really thought about people falling in but rather items falling or being dropped accidentally into the water... son3 threw his sippy cup off the pier in Monterey one year, lol... :)

I'd do it! We had them on the beach I grew up on and of course I used to go on them all the time

I'd walk along it no problem at all, I can swim. As long as I don't fall and hit my head on a rock, we are all good haha

No, I've done my share of walking on stone jetties, when I'd go fishing with my husband. They'd be slippery enough as the rocks were slimey from whatever greenish residue built up from the tide rising and falling.

I don't know...looks a little scary to me!

Like you I think I'd be a bit nervous about walking on that. I have a bit of fear of water and I'm not a very good swimmer.

Love to walk here as long as it isn't windy and crowded.

I think it would be great to walk on, especially when the boats are moving out. Or if it has a good view of sunsets.

I'd prefer to walk on the jetty with the rails, and care care for getting wet myself. Love the photo. Michelle @ http://www.writer-way.blogspot.com

Like you I would only walk on the one with rails. I would feel like I'm going to fall off too.

Ummmm ... I'm thinking NOT!
Even as a kid, my balance hasn't been that great and I'm prone to twist my ankle just walking across the living room.

I'm SO enjoying following in yours and Koda's footsteps, even via cyberspace!

...as long as I have vertigo and can't swim... the answer would be "NO"..!

Beautiful pictures on your blog! I have not heard of the term jetty either...call them piers here. But I definitely wouldn't walk on the one you have pictured!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Nope, I wouldn't. I need railings, too.

I love the ocean, but even though I only live about a hundred miles away, I have not been in a few years. I have an old picture of me on a jetty, but had railings on it :). I always have been a bit of a play it safe kind of girl.

Maybe once. I'm not much of a risk taker!

I would love to but I can't swim... nevertheless, it IS beautiful...
