remember, we were young

Playing along again with Martha for Flashback Friday. You are right, Martha, the weeks do go by so fast.

This was taken early 1980s at a Halloween party from a group of people I worked with.  Obviously, hubby was Zorro and I was a dalamatian dog.  I got the idea from years ago when I got invited to a Halloween party from a classmate.  We didn't have a car when I was growing up, walked everywhere or took the bus or got rides from friends, neighbors.  So I wasn't sure I would be able to go to the party until the last minute.  Like literally 3:30 p.m. and I would be picked up at 7 p.m. for the party. I had no costume.

My creative mom came up with the idea of having me be a dalmatian.  She sewed black spots on white pajamas and made the ears out of socks.  It worked.

So years later when we got invited to a party, I thought I would just carry the theme on and go as a dog. It was a fun party if I remember correctly.

Costume parties are such fun, but I haven't been to one since 1986!

Those are both great costumes, and so much fun. I'm going to have to remember the Dalmation one- it looks good and you could make it with what you have on hand.

what really brings back the memories. is the Wood paneling in the back ground..looks like the family room at my parents house.

Funny you were a dalmation. When I was in high school, and my dad worked with the fire prevention bureau, I got paid by them to be the character of "Sparky the Fire Dog". I would have to go to elementary school fuunctions, childrens hospitals, and work 2 weeks at the county fair... wearing dalmation gloves and this big old dalmation head..

Love your mom's creativity and quickness. Adorable and Dashing! (we both married movie stars) Still have a drawer full of costumes but not used in ages. Back in the day, babysitting niece and nephews, each week would be dress up.

You could revise it to be a Corgi!

Moms should get awards for coming up with last-minute costumes. Yours was great!

Love the picture. Such an imagination, I am so glad you posted her picture earlier. Creativity runs in the family.
You kick in a lot of memories, Sherry's family never had a car and walked or bussed where ever they went.
Good VIEW. I like it.l
(((HUGS))) Don't show the picture to Koda, there will be jealousy!!!

Cute costume! Way back when I was in college I worked as a camp counselor and we had to dress up our whole cabin for something with limited costume/prop options. I was Cruella and we put spots on all the kids. I have a photo somewhere which I am going to go look for now.

Have a nice weekend...I'm visiting from Martha's today.

That is so cute!!

I went as Snoopy one year. I made white hat look like Snoopy's head then wore an outfit like the Snoopy doll I had.

Much better than store bought and a fun memory. Three cheers to our moms who knew how to help their children know they were loved and special and worth the effort to help them fit in and have fun.
