ducky

I posted these before a couple of times, but never on this journal, but they are just so cute

thought I would post them again

If you remember seeing these pictures before on my other blog, let me know

these were actually taken in Montana the month before we moved

back down to Southern California

in our front yard

it was a wonderful gift from God

I wonder how many of these ducks are still alive

there's always one duck that seems to lag behind isn't there?

Just too cute though. Kind of like Koda

worse yet, I have no idea where we were living at the time this picture was taken........I know it was in the last six years so it had to either be Laguna Niguel, Murrieta or now Chula Vista but which house, I have no idea......

Not much new here. Our weather has been so pleasant. Please don't "hate" me if you've been in unbearable heat but I think today was 81 degrees and very nice wind blowing. We don't have air conditioning but only maybe need it 10 days out of the year.

Speaking of air conditioning, I type for a group of hospitals in the Chicago area. It is amazing how many reports I type of patients that don't have air conditioning. I would think in such a climate like that, it would be sort of mandatory? Kinda of like living in Las Vegas or Phoenix. Do you guys have air conditioning where you live?

Will close with this, tonight we tried out a new to us fast food restaurant close to where we live, Lolita's.  Son had stopped by one night and got a burrito on his way home from work and it looked delicious so we thought we would have it for dinner tonight.

Son wanted two pollo asado tacos; I wanted the California burrito (had no idea what it was, but it sounded delicious). Hubby wanted the chimchanga plate with beef.

We called in the order and went to pick it up.

When we got home and sorted through the bag, we got two burritos, no tacos, and the chimchanga plate was chicken not beef, even though the receipt had our order correctly listed.......

Son and me split the burritos; cut them in half and shared them. Actually I could only eat about 3/4, they were that big. The burrito we got instead of the tacos was good; not sure of the name but it had beef and french fries in it with a very good sauce. Will have to figure out the name for it because I definitely want it again. Even though the order was messed up, the food was still good that we'll go back there again (but just double check food before we leave the restaurant).

Stay cool if you can.

Have a great Sunday.........

Most places here have air conditioning, but didn't when I was a kid. Somewhere along the line the majority of homes and rentals have ACs.

Those little ducklings are so cute! You're lucky you liked what you got by accident--LOL! Makes it hard to order next time if you aren't sure what you were eating, though. ;)

Yeah, I like the ducks too.
If I check a take out order it is always right, BUT...... I do like your attitude though, it is good.
A/C, out here the mills used to run with no A/C, hot inside. Now most everything has A/C. The motor home has Two. Being under this RV port has been a blessing during the HOT stuff.
Good entry.

I've always thought that they should just install a huge dome over my city and air condition the whole thing!

I had never seen your mama and her ducklings! They are a gift! I really enjoyed our Mama Mallard and her ducklings. They were hatched in our front yard as well. :)

Sweet ducks. Love the little babies. We are fortunate to have air conditioning. But the 103 temps played havoc with my hubby's COPD and my meds. Sounds that burrito was yummy even if you had to split it. take care.

The heat is miserable. We're supposed to get a little break for about a week. That will nice.

The duck photo is adorable. Thanks for sharing.

Those ducks are too cute! I love to watch them when they're all following each other.

We have severe heat, but we're pretty used to it. Yes, we have central air conditioning, and run it from Feb. to about the beginning of December.

We here use air conditioning in the summer heat for sure. It's been unbearably hot the better part of several weeks now and today they say we may be having a break with temps only in the mid 80's. I would have expired from the heat without it for sure. It has been unusual for us to have this extreme weather. I cannot take the extreme cold in the winter or the heat of summer. You are fortunate to be having such mild days. Hope your Sunday is a wonderful one!

Air conditioning here, too. What boggles my mind are the news reports of people who have been rushed to the hospital ... people who have a working air conditioning unit but don't use it.

Those ducklings are adorable! As is Koda. ;-)

That duck that lags behind? Yeah, that's me. Always the caboose, never the engine. :)

Those ducks are way too cute!

Yes, I have A/C. Living in Phoenix, like you said, it's pretty mandatory. There have definitely been cases of elderly people dying because they couldn't afford the electricity costs in the summer. I think that is sad. our A/C is already kicking on this morning at 5:00 AM. That's the part I hate. Ick! We have it set at 78 degrees, so it's not down too low.

I'm sorry your dinner order was messed up, but it sounds like it was worth it to try some new dishes. I hope they get it right next time!

I probably did see the ducks before, but they are so cute I'm glad to see them again. Of course it is always fun to see a picture of Koda.
We have AC and have really needed it this summer. The weather has cooled the last few days and we have had lots of rain...a very nice change.

The ducks are so cute! My grandfather managed a campground that had ducks when I was a kid. It seemed like every year he ended up taking a few of the babies in to care for for some reason or another. They were so cute, and it was the sweetest thing when they'd get a little bigger and follow him around the campground.

Koda looks super cute in his picture too!

The duckies are so cute. Worth posting them again.

Ac's are definitely a MUST here where we live. We don't have heating, but almost everyone has an AC. This morning we had 3 C, so we are missing the heating part, but soon enough it warm up again.

Have a good Sunday Betty!

Those fuzzy little ducks are just too cute!! The mother ducks are super aggressive when it comes to protecting their little ducklings. I am a bit envious when I hear of the West Coast weather. Here in Philadelphia it's been near 100 for the past few days. We can not deal without the AC. Thank God we have central air in our new house. We need to have it running at least 3 months out of the year. We love Mexican food. Recently I made my own burritos with a very delicious canned Hatch enchillada sauce...YUM!!! Happy Sunday, Betty!

OMG, it's only 8AM, but my mouth is watering for for a burrito ... right NOW!!! (Must go wash out my mouth with some Listerine.)

Baby ducks never fail to tug at my heartstrings. They seem at once so helpless and vulnerable to prey. I want to protect them all ... but of course, God's already got that covered.

Wishing you (and Koda!) a wonderful day,
Myra

Our weather has finally cooled some and we've got this stuff falling from the sky making the sidewalk wet that we haven't seen in a very long time. Blessings!

The photos of the duck and its ducklings are endearing.. I wish my nephews and niece would forever be little. They are so pure, adorable, sincere and I love them so much!

Have a great Sunday and your story of the burrito made me want to have one now, hahaha. :D

I love ducks- they are so sweet.
Your corgi is adorable!
I couldn't live w/o Mexican food. It's unfortunately way too common that take out food orders are so wrong. I'm glad that you were able to enjoy it!

Awwwww.....the ducks and Koda are so cute.

Allegedly, our heat wave is over. My phone says it is only 79!! It is supposed to ONLY be in the low 90s this week lol. and yes, we have air conditioning. All the houses we have looked at have air conditioning.

Oh, those ducks are adorable!! Just toooo cute...
When we go to Arby's they always get our order mixed up and it's so frustrating. A lot of times if you call and let them know they'll give you a free meal next time. That's good customer service.

It's hot here, but I don't hate you! I'm happy that you're having beautiful weather and I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures this week.. (fingers crossed)

I love that look on Koda's face. What a sweetheart!!

Stopping in for my usual weekend catch up on your posts this week. Love the photos of those little ducks, and of Koda too of course. Hope you have a great week! :)

Adorable ducks. I love the colors of the babies.
Mexican food - - - I didn't eat much of it until the last fifteen years and now I love quite a bit of it.
Yes, we have a/c except for the 22 hours when the storm took out the electricity.

Hollie said...

Wow, you did have nice weather. We just got out of the pool!! Nice way to cool down a little. We do have a/c thank the Lord!!!

Love the little ducks and mama!!

Oh my, those ducks are precious! Baby animals are the best, aren't they? We're in FL, but do have AC. It's been stifling here, but it's funny...the states north of us have it even worse. Go figure. :-)

Love the ducks so precious.

It's been HOT here & this week is supposed to be the worst. You know it is Hot when the kids don't even want to try to go out til after six in the evening. I feel for people on the east coast I know how Hot is really is for them. Stay Cool.

The ducks are cute. I remember when a mom tried to get her brood across a street in our city. They could't make it up the curb, so I had to help them.

We've been having some 80+F temperatures here in our part of Canada. That's quite hot for us. Fortunately we have good air conditioning in our apartment. If it's more than 22°C (about 72F) outside, that's getting too hot for me. By time it's 30C (84F) I start to curl up like a burnt leaf.

Hope you had a wonderful Sunday!

we are so blessed to have our ac working this year--thanks to one of my sons and his friend--we had been using two window units, which really didn't do the job----yep we always have to check our bag at the taco place----love your pics :)

Little baby ducks melt my heart!
We have central air. We typically need it 3 months out of the year.

LOVE the ducks..thank you for re-posting the picture..I will add it to my smile list of the day.

We are in Upstate NY and most here don't have air conditioning. We got ours installed 8 years ago due to the boy having terrible seasonal allergies and asthma, our home being brand new, we had no shade trees to shelter the house from the hot sun, either. Most days I try to get by with just the ceiling fans because I hate to cold of a/c, but at night I do turn it on before the kids head to bed so they are comfortable.

Love those photos of the ducklings with their mama. So cute!
We have been experiencing a heat wave the past few days here in South central BC, but thankfully, today a huge thunderstorm rolled in and cooled everything off a bit. Tomorrow's hot again, though! After the cool, wet Spring we had, I just can't bring myself to complain yet.. even though the heat is hard to take!

Those ducks are just too, too adorable!

Not too far from our house, there is a retirement home / assisted living facility / nursing home campus, and on the property between the buildings is a beautiful little park-type area, complete with a decent-sized pond, which is fed partly by a creek that runs nearby. The ducks that live there are so used to people and cars, that they'll cross the street between the campus and this family-owned Italian restaurant to swim in the creek (which runs behind the restaurant). They walk around that are as if they own it . . . which, in a way, I suppose they do, LOL!

Enjoy your day, Betty!!

Kelly said...

Ooh . . . we're contemplating central air next year. We've been using window AC units, but with my dad's COPD & other assorted health issues, it would be easier to regulate the temperature of the house with central AC, as opposed to the window units. He has a hard time with temperature extremes, and the humidity really gives him problems! We're in northeastern PA, BTW.

Quack!

We don't have air conditioning; would love it though! Most days it's not been too bad here; in the 80s with a nice sea breeze, but we've had a few VERY HOT days. Thankfully not too many though!

Glad you enjoyed the food, despite the order getting messed up.

I love the ducks. Reminds of life in Boston where the ducks have the right of way.
And I shalln't hate you because you have wonderful weather while we roast here in Virginia. Just send barque sauce :)

Debby@Just Breathe said...

Such cute ducks. We have been well over 100 but being up high on top of a hill be do get a breeze. Nothing like San Diego area, I do love the weather there. Sorry they messed up your order. I hate when that happens.

beef and frenchfries...are you kidding me???

sounds divine...

i like order mess ups like that...

Such cute little quackers!!

A/C is expensive (both to acquire and operate) and a lot of the poor (and many of them elderly) can't afford them. I don't drive around in slums - and know I'm sheltered from seeing this!

The Brown Recluse said...

I hate it when my order is screwed up and I don't know it until it's too late! But I like finding new good places to eat, and I'd forgive a messed up order for good good! lol (Well, I'd probably trade about anything for good food.)

Air conditioning...Not sure I could live without it.
