Osprey

Joining with Cate for 6-Word Saturday; describing something in six words. Here's mine for this past week when I was on vacation.

Wow, what a magnificient looking bird.

Osprey we saw on one of our morning walks with Koda down at the marina, one of our favorite places to walk him and home of several blue heron nests we are always interested in looking at. There were two ospreys one day when we were walking, but of course that was the day I forgot my camera. There were also three ospreys Friday when we were walking, but you know the story, I forgot my camera.

Hubby took great pictures of him (or perhaps her, how does one know?).

So majestic, so beautiful, wonderful creation of God!

Alas, vacation is winding down. Back to the grind come Monday. It was a nice one; good rest, fun times. We enjoyed the Titanic exhibit; I survived, hubby didn't. (You get a ticket;/boarding pass when you enter the exhibit, at the end you check to see if you made it or not). I was so excited I survived, I forgot to see if my "husband" made it or not. Hubby forgot to see if his "wife" and "15 year old daughter" survived.

Got some great new pictures too of benches with views :) Will share them over time as my blog header picture.

Thanks all for your faithful reading and commenting, always so appreciated.

That's something we don't see in Nebraska. :) Thanks for sharing your beautiful pics. Looks like an amazing place to walk the dog.

That is a magnificent bird!

Glad you had a good time in your vacation and well, that the hubby forgot to check if you survived doesn't mean he doesn't love you... right? ;)

I am thinking that I died when I went through that when it was here.... It was a really neat exhibit and I did feel like I was a passenger there. The pictures are lovely today. Glad your vacation has been a good one. You really deserve another week after going so long with out one. Hope that very soon you can take some more time off and not have to wait that long again. Have a super Saturday!

Well, you were so busy saving yourself, you didn't have time to worry about your hubby... And, hey, at least one of you made it, and I'm sure you will keep his memory alive.

That's too funny though; that you get to find out if you survived or not; gotta love little touches like that on tours and things!

I love the photos of the osprey ... what a magnificent bird indeed.

Sorry that your week off is coming to a close, but I'm glad that it was an enjoyable, restful one for you. I think I enjoyed our "stay-cations" as much as our "vacations" when I was working. I guess that's why I enjoy retirement so much. ;-)

I have taken a few photos of benches with views over the years, but never thought of 'collecting' them. What a great photo hunt idea!
It would be great to see a Titanic exhibit and very interesting to find out if one 'survived' or not.

I love the Osprey, I never remember seeing one until we lived in Florida. They are an amazingly fast bird and good fishers!

Happy Mother's day to you!

NOW GET READY TO GET BACK TO WORK!! LOL (They pass fast don't they!)

I too photographed a bench with a view this week and thought of you! Glad you had a fun week!

I have never seen an osprey.
Very pretty!

Great photos of the osprey. I usually whip out my camera to find that the batteries are flat - even more annoying than forgetting your camera.

The Osprey is lovely. I have never seen one. The Titanic adventure sounds like fun. HAPPY MOTHER's DAY to you. ENJOY. PS)Please keep my daughter in your prayers. They just discovered 3 spots on her lungs. she's never smoked. And a big mass on her liver. They're going to do a biopsy soon. I am praying with all my heart these things are benign. She's only 36 and has two small children. You never know what the good Lord is going to throw your way. Last week everything was in transition about something else. This week we are confronted with this. Take care.

That really is a magnificent bird.
Where is the Titanic exhibit located? My husband and I saw the movie Titanic on our first date together.
I like your idea of taking photos of benches with views

One of my favorite birds -- and yes that's a perfect way to describe it.

Thank you for your encouragement om my new wordpress blog. (This will link to my older more established blog; I'm trying to compare the two hosts.)

Impressive bird indeed! Hope you're having a lovely Mother's Day!

Thanks for playing 6ws.

Great Osprey photos! We have lots of them here in my area too. You had me laughing about the survival at the Titanic exhibit. Hope you are having a wonderful Mother's Day! :)

Your new bench definitely has a wonderful view! Glad you survived the Titanic (although others didn't ;(

Vacations are never long enough. Glad yours was good.

We have a blue heron visiting our new pond. Hubby is not too pleased since he/she is only interested in the fish he stocked there! I think they are beautiful birds!

Oh Betty, just love that view from that bench! So peaceful. I've enjoyed eyeing ospreys in my neck of the woods too. They're so majestic.

I'm glad you had a good week - hoping that you feel rested and restored.

And, I really hope you're having a wonderful Mom's Day. Yes, I understand that they can be a mixture of feelings, but I always feel extra-close to God somehow on this day. I know that He gave me a look into a corner of His heart - both through loving my own mom, and by being loved by my children.

GOD BLESS!

Bacl to life...back to reality...and old rock song in the 80's. It always comes to mind at the end of vacation. Love the pics but have to say...miss seeing the Corgi.

Lol! That always happens to me. The best pictures are always when I don't have a camera or, enough film.

Cool picture of the bird!

LOL! Sounds like a cool exhibit.

Can't wait to see your bench pictures! : )

Perched at the highest vantage point to have the maximum visibility.
Perched on a sturdy branch that will take his weight.
How do they assess all these so quickly before flying down.

Linda said...

Wow indeed!

What a privilege to get so close to such a magnificent bird.

Koda was having a lot of fun in the snow. Our Adi when she was younger did too (Adi and Harry).

Question: How do you tell a female osprey from the male?
Answer: The female lays eggs in her younger years.

I am sorry that I am late in returning your 6WS comment. Thank you for coming and peeking in and leaving your comment. 'Things' got the best of me and I missed a lot of them. But please come back the next time I am brave enough to try the Six Word bit. You know that I return comments even though they might be late once in a while.

Ospreys and Eagles are definitely magnificent birds! I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation, and I'm really glad you "survived." (My condolences on the hubby...lol)

I went on a battle ship tour once..went below, had a panic attack...won't do that again. I had noticed you had a new bench pic already...and I really like it, too.

Ospreys are birds that are a "couple" on the nest. Both mom and dad take care of the young ones. There is a couple and a nest about 50 yards behind the houseboat. They seem to take turns "fishing" for food... the mate that remains gets restless if the hunt goes for very long (10-20 minutes) and starts a pitiful cry.

The Titantic sank... its still sunk... LOL - and you didn't check on each other? Hmm... I guess it wasn't too realistic. :)
