I'm outnumbered

There are two of them and one of me. There are two bathrooms. I don't know how they do it, but they always manage to make me be the one that has to change the toilet paper.

Son is blatant about it. He just leaves the roll empty on the holder. So one is forced to have to change it, especially if one is a lady.

Hubby is a bit sneaky about it. I'm not sure how he knows exactly how much to leave on the roll without looking like he purposefully left just a little so he wouldn't have to change it, but he just knows. Just the right amount for someone else to use and then it is empty.

I think 9/10 times I'm the one that changes toilet paper rolls. How does that happen? Its not a big deal but I think I'm outnumbered since there are two of them and one of me.

But gratefully they both put the seat down. That is a relief.

How is it at your house? Do you find yourself changing the roll more often than not?

It must be a guy thing. I think what we should do is just 'hide' the toilet paper so we have some and they don't. Leave the holder empty! That'll teach 'em!

I have been going to write about this topic a zillion times. My husband will take out a NEW roll. Leave it sitting on counter and start using it but will NOT put it in the holder. Drives me CRAZY. I complain. It falls on deaf ears. But I finally figured out how to get him to do it. He likes the papoer to roll overtop, so when I change it, I have it roll under. he fixes it. VICTORY!

Yes, that roulette wheel that is the toilet paper roll usually stops on me.

Living on my own as I do the answer is easy...always. One thing about being by myself is there is no one to share the blame with on anything that goes on here. It is me myself and I and I do some strange things sometimes...Well I try to keep laughing about it anyway.

A friend has a wooden sign hanging in her bathroom it reads, "Changing the Toilet Paper Roll Does Not Cause Brain Damage." It is the same at my house. DH will take out a new roll and leave it sit on the cabinet! Thank you for the morning chuckle! It is the real life things that give us the biggest smile!

My husband is actually pretty good about changing the roll. I guess I'm lucky. :)

2 people, 2 bathrooms = no problem here.

Hey, This is the MALE Blogger here! hhahahaha I had to laugh Betty, with sherry's wing broke, we know who changes it here (NOW), but I don't recommend that, to get the job done there! LOL PLUS in your case it would sure cut down on the transcribing output!!!!

Love from here, BUT we pretty much share the job when she has both wings.

Good luck in retraining!!!!

I think I'm lucky - K will change the roll, but he insists on putting it the wrong way round (tail toward the wall so you have to scrabble to get a hold on it).

So I still end up having to do it anyway. Sometimes you can't win!

haha sore subject at my house--i always change the toilet paper because i am the one who has always finished it--my husband is always griping about how much i use!

My husband is actually really good about changing it. It could be because we couldn't keep the toilet paper on the holder when the cats were younger because they'd always unroll it and make a little nest with it, usually right on top of the heater vent. Now that they've outgrown that phase and we can actually use the holder it seems pretty special. The little things! :-)

My hubby and I have split up the two bathrooms here ... I use the master bath and he uses the hall bath. So I don't have to worry about him using the last of the roll of TP nor about him putting down the seat (although he is very good about putting the seat and the lid down).

I live alone - so it's always me. :)

But at work, its almost always me too. I swear my younger brother uses about 20 times more paper than I do per "servicing".

We have it like Kathy. We split two bathrooms and each has to change the tp in his/her own bathroom. But I remember how annoying it is, when the roll is always left empty...

I am usually the one to change the roll.

This reminds me of when I lived with my mom. Our issue was emptying the ice cube trays!! We would take from the tray instead of emptying it into the "bucket". I admit I was mostly guilty of this and my mom would get so mad lol.

I have the same problem with the guys around here too. So, I guess it is a "guy thang!" Arrrgh

It's about 50/50 at our house. And fortunately he always closes the lid. Win!

My girls are no better! One will leave just enough so it looks like the roll has 'something' on it, the other leaves it on the counter rather than putting it on the roll. Invariably, I'm always home alone when the roll is empty!!

I have complained about it so much that I actually left it empty in the master bath the other day and he finally got the hint and changed it.

Always, always me!

I have three non fillers of toilet paper. My husband will just leave enough on so he doesn't have to change it - just likes yours. Andy is oblivious. Kelly is like your son - she'll leave it empty and start a new one and just leave it on the sink. I am the only one who changes it. That goes for kleenix and paper towels. lol
Love, sandie

I find myself changing the toilet roll a lot. Or sitting there in need.

When I didn't live alone and lived with men, it was the same for me. I think it's just one of those man things. ;)

My husband has his own bathroom. It's colder and more guyish so I use the "family" bathroom. I'm the only one who changes the toilet paper.

Bobbi said...

Gary is excellent about changing the roll... I, however, forget all the time. I can tell myself, I better change that roll... but by the time I leave the bathroom I've forgotten. Maybe that's the case with your 2?

I am outnumbered now 6 to 1...but i make sure everyone knows that it is ME who is in charge..and big trouble awaits the one who leaves the seat up or an empty roll..they know if moms is happy they are happy...this definitely works!!!

There are 7 of us in our house! My dad only ever uses his own bathroom, but the other 6 of us use both the downstairs bathroom and the upstairs one. And 98% of the time, I'm the one changing all the rolls. My kids will leave the new roll sitting on top of the old one, right in the holder. Makes me insane! My husband will replace it once in a while, but he puts it on backwards (I like the tail overhanging, not underhanging), so I end up changing it. And I've given up trying to make the boys & my husband put the seat down. It's never gonna happen. What really gets me though is how my 7-yo always seems to get more pee on the toilet rim and on the floor than he does in the bowl. UGH!

Toriz said...

I think it's about 75% me, 25% him. So he does a bit better than most. Now if I could just get him to throw away the empty tube from the old roll instead of leaving it on the edge of the bath... LOL!

notes4neta said...

Oh, I've got toilet-paper-roll-challenged people living here, too (two against one!). Mostly, it seems I'm the ONLY one who actually replaces the rolls! Otherwise the new roll just sits on the counter and the empty roll sits uselessly on the holder. Crazy!

Living Life said...

Yep. I'm for sure the tp changer in the house. I was just complaining about this very same thing to my daughters last week. It's like they don't know how to do it or something. I gave them both a crash course in changing the empty roll!!

Farida said...

My mom does that task for me, hihihi.

Blondee said...

The girly burgles me with that trick a few times a week it seems! We have 2 bathrooms as well, so there is always a roll needing replacing. :)

Betty,
I think it's a group effort really in our house although I will agree that I am out-numbered in my house...the hubby, son and dog are male but I have Angel-Kitty on my side!

Not a problem!(Occasionally empty left on vanity instead of recycling) Just imagine all the nearly empty toothpaste tubes, too. Enjoy your weekend!

This cracked me up. I was JUST thinking this same thing last week. Someone in my house does the sneaky thing too! not sure which one.

Karen Greenberg said...

I definitely change the roll more often than anyone else in my family. It's like that in both bathrooms, too. I'm hoping that my near teenager daughter will eventually start taking the responsibility, but she is much like your husband. She knows just how much to leave on the roll so she doesn't have to change it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and leaving a comment. I hope you'll come back to visit again soon!

Sorry but, I had to read on....

I rarely use the toilet paper if only on the rare occasions that I need to, tmi.

I'm always surprised when someone starts yelling at me and asking me if we have any more toilet paper rolls! I'm always like didn't we just get a new pack last week? I think I could do with one roll per year. That's enough for me!

LOL! Interesting post! : )
