good news or bad news?

Don't worry, the good news or the bad news isn't about Koda. (But isn't he cute??)

Rained all weekend. Windy all weekend. Raining now. Cold all weekend.  So Southern California isn't always sunny, nor is it always warm. It is expensive though to live here, no matter what season.

I'm lying in bed this morning thinking aobut things and then I realize "oh, we have to do taxes." If you know me, I don't like getting taxes done so I put it off to the very last minute (like four days before they are due). Some years we pay, some years we get back a little, some years we get back a lot. Not sure on this year since hubby didn't work much and we can't claim son because he didn't live with us the whole year (but I think we should be able to claim the dog's medical expenses :)

So, here's my question. If you do taxes, and if you have done taxes this year, was it good news or bad news? Did you get a refund or have to pay?

If I have to take a guess on us, I'm going to say we're going to have to pay just a little but not a lot. I don't see us getting much of a refund this year. But I won't know that until next month....and this year I think they are't due until April 17, that's even better yet!

Whatever you do today, make it a good one and be safe out there!

Ours? a combo of bad & good. Not as bad as last year, but we still had to pay. After I filed ours I realized I had missed something. So I am waiting to see if they (the IRS) care. hahahaha!

I have done this in the past and they sent me a letter saying, hey you forgot royalties (or something) so send us a check for $75 and we will be even.

So Now I am waiting. hahaha I assume they will just forget this one.

Hope yours is GOOD NEWS!!!!

Love from this coast.
I am disappointed to know that it gets cool in SoCal.

But then somefolk think FLA is all sunshine also.

Good old tax time gets a lot of folks in a tizzy. I always get mine done early and it's over. Here it's always a simple thing. When you don't have much it does simplify things. We are the complete opposite of you here today which is very unusual. It's sunny and we're to be mid 70's which is as near perfect as our weather can get. We've got flowers blooming and everything is green. Of course we've had a lot of rain but today is sunny and I'm having a hard time doing what I should be doing inside as all I want to do is be outside. Hope your Monday is a great one!

We haven't done ours yet, but we've had to pay for about the last 7 years. I hate that part!

Our due date was Feb. 29, and we had to pay a LOT! That is NOT fun. Hope you get some back!

What? And here I thought it never rained in southern California!

Koda is a very pretty dog...love those ears!

We get refunds...a very small refund from state, but an OK one from federal. I understand that all the Bush exemptions will expire next year, and if that happens, I'm not sure what will happen to our little refunds.

I think this year we owed a little. I was getting unemployment for a little while where the tax is not taken out. In addition, we were renting during 2011 and couldn't take advantage of some of the deductions. I'm more interested to see how/if our taxes change for 2012.

Happy Monday!

I usually wait 'till the last minute because I usually have to pay :(

I Every year I tell myself that I'm going to change my W-4 form to deduct more money throughout the year but funny because I never get around to it....shame on me!

I'm glad Koda is doing great, he sure looks cute.

You just reminded me that I have to call and make an appointment with H&R Block.

I will owe. Especially on my mom's estate. No worries, though.

We have the rain now :(

We don't do our own, but everything is at he CPA and I am hoping for a small refund since I have some carry-over losses.
I'd say it is good news about Koda since he is looking so healthy and cute.

We do ours (via an accountant) in February...but if we have to pay we don't file until April! This year it's mixed...refund from the Fed, owe the State, refund from the county. I actually prefer to have to pay in (a little) because that means that I have the money through the year and not the government.

Ugh. The dreadful "t" word! We are finally at a point where we can complete our taxes on our own without the help of an accountant. We usually have to pay a little! I agree with what Karen said above.

Koda does look so cute!
No taxes for me. Don't have enough income on SS. I guess that's one advantage to being poor--LOL! ;)

I don't do taxes but, I know my parents do them. I think they do them early in the year.

Yup that rain and cold is coming over here, excited and nervous. I'm hoping none of our trees will fall. : )

I haven't thought much about our taxes, beyond getting some things ready for our accountant.

I'm pretty sure we're going to pay this year. Beyond social security, we've cashed in some savings, and the government is going to want its share of the proceeds.

And, yes, Koda is cute, but not quite as cute as my Sadie (standard poodle).

We had rain this weekend, followed by snow. Strange weather in prairie Canada.

We had a good tax year - two kids in college helps :). Hope you have the same.

Glad to see you're back to blogging and allowing comments.

Hope Koda and everything else around you is doing well.

Hi C.Mom ~~ I started last Friday and did some on them again today. I do my own with the help of Turbo Tax. It didn't help much that I lost a box, the one with all the bills and bank stuff, etc, for September and October. It was hiding behind Mrs. Jim's night stand.

I skipped the last estimated tax payment so there probably will be a little to pay. We are way down on income this year also so it won't be much.

Taxes? What taxes? JK- I have been out of work since June so there is good an bad in that financially. The good being we have to pay less in and might get something back. However RI is one of the highest taxed states in the USA. Apparently small things have high price tags. Thanks for visiting! Dawn @ Beneath The Surface:Breath of Faith

I'm a procrastinator when it comes to taxes. Especially if I think we're going to have to pay. I decided to let myself off the hook of fretting about them until April 1. So I am enjoying this lull -

We'll probably have to pay some. Last year we broke even. I'd be happy for that!

and Yes, your Koda is adorable. We're thinking about a corgi...but still not ready yet. It's only been almost 4 mos, since our dog died.

The Ponderosa is a large operation and our taxes read like a thick novel...we're still awaitin' the verdict.

God bless ya and have a magnificent day!!! :o)

When we moved to CA from IL everyone thought we would be tan all the time. People don't really understand CA weather. It is beautiful often but it's not FL!
My husband handle all the taxes. Having a newer home with a mortgage we normally get some money back but my husband is very last minute on taxes so I have no clue about this year.

Oh, how it did my heart good to see precious Koda looking so very healthy and CUTE!!

Yes, today it's raining again (3/25) - and it's cold and blustery.

No, I haven't yet done our taxes. I hate them. And it always seems like it's only been about a month since I last did them. Grrr...

Hope you're like me today - snuggled up INSIDE and keeping warm!

GOD BLESS!
